The title is exaggerated to get your attention. I am a junior in highschool, it is my first year running track or playing any sport in general. I am already running a 4:55 in the 1600 with maybe 20 miles a week, really no type of long runs by myself. My first 800 is a 2:09 and i split a 2:06 in the 4x8.I am ethiopian, so I am guessing this is playing a huge role since I used to think I had no athletic potential until stepping into the track. My coaches see potential in me, which is recently motivating me, whether I should take track serious. Considering if I trained like a true distance runner, combined with some natural talent I may possess I could aim for a 4:10 1600m, and sub 1:57 800m by senior year state. This season is not over yet, and I know my goals seem far fetched but I would assume my improvements would be more drastic considering me being so late into running. I just do not want to waste my time in the summer if it is not worth doing so, since I am balancing school as well. I need help, tips, everuthing
