I’m in NYC. It was really quite bad during COVID/immediately after but feels like it’s back to normal. It’s always been sketchy here.
Theres NO WAY you're in NYC if you think anything going on is normal.
You are probably not expecting the unexpected. So many people have found their way of life but not you. You walk the streets and there is newfound peace and balance. People go about their own business. They don't mind yours. Whenever I approach someone to ask a question, they change direction and if I join them in a tempo run, they tend to break into Vo2Max. I tell you, people here are in shape. They could just cringe a little less when I say Hello.

Everything is not a joke.
Theres a cop being buried today because the criminals now run the city, and most people aren't even smart enough to see what's going on.
Move out of town. Setup some cameras on your perimeter. If you don't already have a gun in your house, go get one. It's best to just avoid people. In high population areas you're bound to be in close proximity of some crap people. Even if only 1% of people are bad, if you live in an area of 100,000 people that's a thousand bad people who are within a few miles from you right now, hopefully you're not their next target to rob.
No, my town is not falling apart at all. Has good public schools and a lot of well paying jobs if you have the right skills. The only problem is housing costs are extremely high.

Similar issues. I am a high income earner trying to live my dream of endless options for outdoor pursuits. Super community oriented but also growing tired of people showing up without a degree, sometimes without a high school diploma, totally out of turn and then, with their hand out demanding sustenance, causing problems within the community at night.
Just the other week, a 34-year old woman passed out in a snowbank, intoxicated by drugs and alcohol, and died over night. Heart wrenching because she was trying to sustain in this mountain paradise. Why was she on drugs and who gave them to her are my questions. I want to know and keep my eye on this person. The cops dont do anything around here. The woman who died represents the hopelessness that those who are degree-less and struggling in dead end jobs go through. Then in that struggle begin to throw their lives away to drugs and alcohol. Then, we also have a ton of petty ex-felons, drugged up and nuisancing the street at night, looking to pick fights (blue collared laborers and service workers). They are so dumb because they dont even know how to fight. All the while, tourism spikes bring its own subset of problems. For instance, today's main streets are a monster truck rally with late college spring breakers and k-12 spring breakers. On foot, people are rude and cut each other off the whole time just as they do in cars. There's just no class or etiquette on foot or on the road. The stop signs are options. The red lights and posted speed limits are recommendations. The worst culprits are the fire protection district, official town worker vehicles, local construction vehicles, meth heads and bad Texans in their 4x4s.
Liberal snowflakes defunded the police in my city when we had one of the friendliest, most competent police forces in the world. At one point, the police were taking 15+ minutes to respond to stabbings and had entirely stopped giving out traffic tickets. Fortunately, criminals started entering the wealthy neighborhoods where all the liberal snowflakes hide from the brown people and robbing them nonstop. So the city hired back most of the lost police force and things are much better now.
The ancient Roman roads are still around, and some are even still in use. The Collosseum is still about 2/3 intact. The Great Pyramids are still standing too. They will never fall over.
Modern construction is designed to fail quickly so more things have to be built. It's a big scam
