I don’t tip or even shop at my local running store. I don’t feel guilty either. I don’t participate in their group runs and don’t need advice on what shoes to buy. I buy from the clearance section of Running Warehouse.
How do you go from "support local" (which I take to be "shop there") to "tip," which I do not do when buying shoes, clothing, sporting goods, etc.?
Just the tip. Just for a minute.
if you want to support them, just pledge 50% of your income to them.
Tipping is for losers
I'm a sucker for a running store that has a monopoly on community running events.
I spend an hour trying on a bunch of different shoes and asking lots of questions. Then I am like "Sorry bro, $5 cheaper on Amazon!" as I adjust my crotch and strut out the door.
No need to tip brotha. We get paid pretty well already!
Do they still have running stores?
Yes, if you buy an expensive racer you have to hope it works out because you can only test it inside. If you get it dirty, you only get store credit.
Of course there are running stores still in existence. Where else can I buy my Newtons and Skechers?
