About 3 weeks ago while training for a marathon (M2B on 4/28) I pulled a hamstring. Took a week off, came back too soon, took more time off and now I think am starting to feel ready to train again. So of course here I am looking for random strangers advice and stories to let me know if I can still do well a month from now at the race! ;)
Last weekend I ran 12 easy miles with no issues, so today I tried some 3x2 mile efforts. The 2 mile efforts did not go well with the heart rate though and I am worried. Today, running 6:50/mile had my HR around 170bpm; compared to 3 weeks ago 6:25/mile had me at 150bpm. Now I don't do good math, but whatever % change relative to pace seems CRAZY to have happened in 3 weeks, right? right?
Is this something where I can train for 2.5 weeks and get back on track before a taper of 1.5 weeks, or did I miss it? I've been pretty consistent with around 60mpw leading up to the injury, but over the last couple weeks Ive been around 20 :( .
