I haven’t been able to find the article/thread unfortunately but I distinctly remember Henrik telling the media “Pretty soon I’ll be too fast to have any competition in Europe” back in 2014 or 2015. Of course, he never ran faster in the 1500 after that or won any more European championships, and based on championship placings his best season was 2012 when he was 21 years old.
Obviously this doesn’t mean Jakob has already run his best races, they’re different people. But it is interesting considering Jakob and Henrik have such similar training backgrounds and genetics, and suggests we should take Jakob’s cocky declarations about his future accomplishments with a grain of salt.

Number two behind Lobalu in Zagreb just now. New PR in the 3.000. 7,34,80. Next weekend he makes his debut in the half marathon. PRs in both the 5.000 and the 3.000 this season is not bad at his age. Lobalu 7,33,95Raess 7,35,...
I couldn't disagree more. I think almost everyone who isn't a fellow competitor LOVES the guy.
Yes, he's cocky - so what.
My entire adult life I've been waiting for a non-African born guy to consistently contend for golds. Now we have a guy who if he doens't win gold, it's viewed as a terrible disaster.
In case you don't know the history of the sport. Starting in 1991, African-born men swept all four distance golds on the track for a total of fifteen straight Worlds — ’91, ’93, ’95, ’97, ’99, ’01, ’03, ’05, ’07, ’09, ’11, ’13, ’15, ’17, and ’19. They won the first two at the 2022 Worlds as well. In case you are counting, African-born men won 64 straight global distance golds at Worlds.
Did you know that before Jakob Ingebrigtsen arrived on the scene that African-born men had gone 64-0 at Worlds in distance events. Now they've lost 2 out of 4. Yes Noah Lyles was spectacular at Worlds but there are some eerie...
Patently false. You are a classic case of making judgements based solely on what you’ve read on a trash message board.
My old college roommate owns a particular restaurant in Flagstaff that the brothers frequent (I’ll leave the name out for obvious reasons). He has stated more than once that they are extremely kind. He said they were excited when they found out he had been a runner, especially Henrik. My point being, all three of the brothers are warm and gracious- definitely not rude, and most certainly not arrogant. Next, you need to realize that Jakob is supremely confident in his abilities. At an elite level of any profession, confidence and cocky are easily confused by those on the outside looking in. There is a massive difference. I have also been told by another college roommate that is from/lives in Norway that Jakob is a typical young kid- somewhat shy in public, mischievous, and always on his phone. He has also made it clear that Jakob takes time to give autographs, take selfies, and speak with kids at smaller meetings in Norway. He especially takes time out for the kids in his hometown. Basically, don’t believe everything you haven’t seen firsthand or from a trusted source. Forming an opinion based on what you’ve read from a slanted message board (that just tends to make $hit up), is definitely not the way to go. Judging from your writing style, you’re young. You’ll find that it’s significantly better to go out and actually see/learn things for yourself and form your own opinion than be told what you’re supposed to think about a subject. You might just be surprised.
Okey, so you see Filip as an exception. But what about Warholm, f.ex -do you think his pre race ritual is a way of expressing arrogance, or could it simply be his way of boosting his adrenaline, in order to perform better?
It’s a joke bro 😂. Did you even read the article in norway where he said that? He says that it is a good sign for kerr to show that he is improving but at the same time he has run faster in the same distance. To be playful he said “I would have beaten him in that race, blindfolded” That doesn’t make him a narcissist lol. Is it somewhat annoying and arrogant? Maybe but not narcissistic
People can have opinions about Jacob that don't meet your standards. My interactions with Jacob were terrible and he was defiantly rude.
Maybe I caught him on a bad day, but it's my truth. It wasn't like I went up to Jacob. He come up to me and my athlete. It was two years ago though and didn't get bothered by it, but I won't discount every negative posts because someone likes him.
Is no one gonna comment on how the whole first page of this thread is clearly just some dude responding to himself 5 times under different usernames? He even made the same typos. You people are too easy to bait lol

Or you’re from the Inglbritzen camp. I know he reads this. Especially being in Flag
Full disclosure - I don’t think Jacob is a good or a bad dude. I have no logical opinion on him. I just smell BS with your post
Well at least tell us what he did that was so rude...
Otherwise, what's the point in posting on this thread? Separate yourself from the mindless hate of other posters. Unless you are the other posters but keep changing your username? Impossible to know.
Sorry he’s a narcissist. Someone else breaks the world record on the two mile and he says “I would have beaten him in that race, blindfolded”
Come on -he said that with a smile. Clearly Jakob acknowledges that Kerr now is progressing and doing good. He just doesn’t want to say this when it’s politically correct, and the words are being put into his mouth… Jakob will recognise Josh when the time is right for him -his not stupid. He knows that Kerr is on to something great…

Not being stupid and being arrogant are two different things
