As is always the case with a time like this, they need to replicate it before it can be taken seriously.
Anybody know when they go again?
Also, any time I see a 4x1 time, it makes me marvel at how fast WVN was in that WR. Smokin'!
WVN hasn't run within .4 of his 400 WR, so I can't take it seriously.
Yeah, only the WR was done in an Olympic final, and all other competitors in the race had reasonable times. etc
I don’t even know why I respond with substance to bs like this. Yeah I rose to the bait, but your comment wasn’t funny, or even well-done. It just fell flat.
Check the times from last years SEC championships in a meet where LSU set a new collegiate record, they would have been right around 3rd place with Georgia. And crushed the 4th place team.
A high school team did this with 3 no name guys… if anyone buys this, they don’t know the 4x100 race
From what I could find based on AAU/USATF age groups they've run in,
Fontenot and Parker turn 19 this year.
Blaylock turns 18 this year.
Watkins turns 20 this year. I hope his birthday is after 9/1.
I finished HS at 17, two weeks before turning 18. Ages 19 and 20 means those guys were all held back a year. Blaylock is the only legit age guy on this team.
Agreed. If they run within a second of this again I’ll eat my shirt. Bogus times in this race.
Totally. Every team PRs by about a second. Hmmm wonder why
This has long been a problem in Texas. Kids suddenly run way over their heads in championship meets, most never to be heard from again. Someone mentioned short tracks and gotten downvoted by the Texas guys in charge of short measuring tracks.

More LR lameness.
My response was in line with your post. Ridiculous. Once again you display a lack of knowledge about track and field.

Duncanville has been running low 40s this entire season. They ran 40.01 2 years ago. They have been chasing the national record for years - it's not shocking at all that they ran 39.6. Tompkins has some of the fastest runners in Texas on it - Jayden Keys is a Georgia commit, and with the caliber of runners and competition these days it's not shocking to think that they could run 40.01. People have been running that for years now at this point.
All this talk about fake times is hilarious. Go measure the track if you are so sure. The Rice track gets used for dozens of meets a year - you can go see it for yourself. Bogus times? There is a video. Go watch and and time it yourself. Nothing is hidden at all.

Give this a read. It's about the old national record, the 1998 team that ran 39.76. When they first ran 39.99 at regionals, the only thing people said was that it was wrong, and the time was off, or the track was short. It's funny to see that repeated in exactly the same way 20-something years later.
Totally. Every team PRs by about a second. Hmmm wonder why

So a high school team ran faster than most SEC 4x100 squads huh? Faster than teams with 4 guys with PRs under 10.2 in the open 100.
Not saying they’re not fast, but come on. You don’t smash a record like that.
The time is real. But they don’t really drug test high school meets. Look at Asinga, set high school records and busted for doping. He was just unlucky to get caught. But it shows that when records break, even at high school level, doping is possible, maybe even likely.
It's a hoax. The video of the race was likely sped up before being posted to match the official time. With only a 5% increase in playback speed. It's imperceptible to most.
to all the Posters doubting the legitimacy and using the runners prs as reference, I would point out 2 flaws with that.
1 is that obviously they could have prs which are a bit off their real Best time. maybe a race wasn't executed as well as it could have, poor weather, or the time is a bit out of Date. whatever reason there's definitely ways a runner can actually be faster than their pr suggests.
2 is that in the 4x1 the acceleration (the slowest Part of a 100) is basically "free" as all runners have the whole exchange zone of 30 meters, basically a 4x100 split doesn't really have a drive phase, it's just one long fly. This means that Guys with a comparatively poor starts but great top end speed and speed endurance do better in the 4x100 than they would in the 100. That's how I was in highschool. Totally plausible that at least some of the Ascosita kids are Specialists at finishing and this also helps the relay time be faster than the prs suggest.
My personal opinion is that it's probably a combination of both of those to some degree, and the fact that their handoffs are just really damn good.

First of all 3 of these guys are as old as Methusela..a guy turning 20 should be a college soph

Those were all fair speculations, and they backed up the 39.99 time.
That’s how it works.
re: Asinga and drugs. Yes sure some or all of these guys might be using. If so, I would expect to see that reflected in their open 100 times this season.
