I am a junior, and during indoor I ran 9:29 for the two mile. This converts to about 9:26 for the 3200. So, I have run the recruit time for both Amherst, Williams, and Tufts. I also got a 1550 on the SAT. Based on this it seems like I might be able to get recruited to one of these schools. The problem, however, is my GPA. It is 3.83 unweighted. I know the GPA is rather low, but I am in all honors classes at a very competitive high school where it is notoriously difficult to get good grades in the honors classes. For reference, at my school it is very common for people with a 3.6 GPA from mostly honors classes to get into schools like Bates and Colby without getting recruited. If I applied without trying to get recruited to Williams, Amherst, or Tufts, however, it is very unlikely that I would get in because of my GPA. My hope is that because I run the recruit times, it would help make up for the GPA. I know many people say that running the times barely helps at all for getting into NESCACs, but I feel like I am right on the edge, so it might be able to help me get in. What odds do you think I have of being able to get into Amherst, Williams, and Tufts through recruiting? In other words, is my GPA too low for me to be able to get into one of these schools like Williams or Amherst. Please be honest with your responses. I would be very happy to go to any of the other NESCACs like Bates or Colby, but I want to get some advice on what odds you guys think I have of getting into these more selective ones (Amherst, Williams, and Tufts).
