wow
That is really fast. Here are the world age group records:
14 1:51.23 Brandon Miller USA 30 Jan 02 Humble TX 3 Aug 16
15 1:47.50 Max Burgin GBR 20 May 02 Manchester 12 May 18
16 1:47.27 Krzysztof Różnicki POL 29 Aug 03 Sopot 3 Jul 20
17 1:44.51 Krzysztof Różnicki POL 29 Aug 03 Chorzów 20 Jun 21
18 1:44.14 Max Burgin GBR 20 May 02 Ostrava, CZE
19 May 21 19 1:43.55 Donavan Brazier USA 15 Apr 97 Eugene OR 10 Jun 16
WR if he is 14. A bit off if 15.
Negative split too. Great time
His brother Andrew was also a solid high school runner but Cooper is just different. Would ultimately assume he's been coached by the same coach that coached his brother.
Interested to see how far he will progress
Splits according to the results:
55.88–54.92 (most of that in the last 150m)
He’s 15
At this point, it feels like the odds of seeing Różnicki run ever again is pretty low.
Solo time trial last December
Impressive. With that kind of negative split, based on the last 100m, you expect he could run 1:48 this year and that he could be a good miler as well. That is a fun race to watch because you don't know who anyone is and you are just guessing who might win with numerous contenders until the end. I had to then go back and see where he was during the race.
Cooper racing State 800 in a minute.
Cooper tucked in pack 5th
GIGANTIC 200 kick! 1:49.84! National Freshman record.
When they hit 200 to go, everyone was trying to finish an 800 but he was running a 200 meter dash. Generational talent.

As Milesplit said, he ran a great race to win, but not his best race for time. Boxed in first 500, at 600 he was trapped dead end move inside, then he had to go outside with the huge kick. There are a couple seconds just having a better positioned race, he is so talented.
55.4, 54.4 splits. Absolutely unreal for a freshman, we could 100% see a 1:48 with proper pacing, maybe even a 1:47 high but that seems like a stretch.
Dude's got an efficient stride, he could be a good miler too
Obviously, the sky is the limit for this kid. Has great speed, already a 47.8 400 meter runner. Great mechanics, makes a 55 second lap look like he's in cruise control. Can flip the switch to change gears. Is the correct age for his grade and does not look as if he matured especially early.
I mean, you never know, but if there was ever a freshman set up to to break 1:46 while in high school, it would be this guy (or Brandon Miller before him, in fairness, but stuff does happen).
Be careful out there kid. Lots of people saying you can do this and you can do that. Just don't let it all go to your head.
