Hey all - got a question. I have a female athlete who is a very hard worker. I mean very hard. She’s not the most talented (she is #1 on our team though) but she works her @ss off. I’ve coached college before and her work ethic is unrivaled. She really wants to run in college and I really believe in her - I think she has it in her to be as good as she wants to be- although - she’s been in a little bit of a rut and I don’t know what is exactly causing this. I specialize in sports psych so maybe I’m biased- but I think it’s mental blocks. She ran a 5:15 in practice TT but during a race ran a 5:24. I also think a part of it could be nutrition but we don’t talk about that too much bc she seems to get very annoyed. I notice she is pretty restrictive and only eats grilled chicken for lunch. Talked to her parents and they don’t know much only that they saw the food scale out. Anyways, she thinks she needs more workouts/distance which isn’t a problem but I feel that she would say this no matter what just because of her nature. Is there a deeper issue?
