I'm the assistant coach mainly doing distance but jump in where needed. I'm only in my second year coaching. Our 4x800 set an indoor school record in 4A at states. They qualified for Nike Emerging Elite which they ran last weekend....not well. Only the freshman ran well - 2:24 split.
Head Coach talked to private coach girl and she agreed not to run the indoor 4x800 with us even though she is 2nd or 3rd fastest. (Yeah parents pay for private coaching when we have 1-2 ahead of her.) Now head coach is thinking of including private coach girl for outdoor since she might be able to split 2:24.
Issue is he really thinks the 5th fastest works really hard and should be on the relay for outdoor. He wants to boot off a girl that is 3rd/4th because he thinks she wasn't consistent in cross country (she did have a very inconsistent fall) she is high maintenance but did have an intercostal muscle issue during XC. At Nike Indoor she was third for our team. Head coach thought she didn't try hard at Nike indoor....even though she was 3rd fastest by 1.5 seconds. He saw mph and saw her slow compared to other anchors.
We had an outdoor meet this week and girl he wants her off the 4x800 she ran really great in the 800 and was 1st for us...(I did talk her her day before and said you have bad perception and you need to crush everything and hench she did well and ran her ass off since i told her all races matter. ) Head coach thinks is more upset that she ran so well yesterday...she didn't run hard enough last weekend and is miffed she didn't run fast enough Sunday. Ugh.
Any recommendations?
