The New Balance facility is amazing. Nicest indoor facility I’ve ever been to. The event was sold out, but it never felt cramped. I reentered a few times and got right in. Plenty of space, clean bathrooms, concessions, whatever. Warm up area easy to view, no bad seat in the house. Why not do it here every year? Decent restaurants and cafes close by. Plenty of hotels.
Great management too. Plenty of staff and security, but no egos or hassles. Want to go watch from the front row for a minute? Security is fine with it if you’re not troubling anyone.
Really impressed with the athletes that I saw being generous with their time. Any kid that wanted an auto or photo seemed to get one. I saw a few stars spend several minutes with fans after already dealing with the ESPN guys and other press (Nico, Maia, etc). Saw the Oklahama St 3k guys still dripping sweat in the hallway signing some kid’s program, chatting him up. Tons of examples of this. Even Noah Lyles took some selfies.
I’ve been to a ton of sports and music events over the years and would say that this one was close to the top of the list for overall experience. Good job, Boston!
