Carson Williams (got clipped or tripped on the rail?) and went down in front of him and he couldn't go anywhere. He still picked himself up and finished the race. I wonder if they will protest?

I agree, he got completely screwed. But I do think they’ll advance him.
World Indoor Championship 1500 repeat? Can we get 14 men in the final here too?
what a messy race. 2 falls and a near fall at the finish. poor Basten, hope he gets thru on protest.
It’s called balance, he should have used it
Didn't send him through. Shocking considering he's the defending silver medalist. He's progressed well on the NCAA stage throughout his career, it's a shame we won't see what he could have done this year.
The status is currently listed as protest
He was not advanced. Seems like BS unless he had something to do with the fall.
Dude sucks at racing.
A lot of falls in large competitive fields. Usually why the times arent better than what got them qualified. No experience navigating traffic. That being said, you do see some runners committimg to a fast pace sooner to avoid the traffic so good for them, they did the right thing.
Athlete: Coach, how do I run this prelim?
Coach: Run it like it's your final. Or it'll be your final.
Relying on your superior time that qualifies you to the championship meet doesnt mean squat if you are going to sit and try to kick against quality athletes on a short track. Ask Bizymana. It was his final.
No where to go? Dude falls in front of the guy in front of him, and the guy in front of him stays on his feet, Basten is tugging on the dudes singlet and is trying to stay on the rail when he could have went wide or slowed down and avoid the nan down. He took a risk by staying so tight when someone went down in front of him on the rail and ended up paying for it. It’s championship racing.
He did had nowhere to go but also was in really poor position. You shouldn’t be sitting in the back if you’re one of the top seeds with less then 800 to go. He rolls the dice with these flashy kicks but uses his kick to excuse himself from running good tactical races. I think it came down to if they said yes to one protest they’d have to say yes to the other 2/3 so just said no to all. Just put yourself in the a better position
He intentionally fell when he realized he had nowhere to go and thought that would be good enough to make it into the final since he could make a case he got impeded with. His former teammate at Drake, Ada, Fogg, got into the finals at Worlds the week prior because he got tripped up so he thought the same scenario would occur.
