Hi, I'm a high school freshman who had an indoor meet this weekend. i ran two events (800m and the mile) and had goal times for both (2:20 for the 800 and 5:20 for the mile) but ran way slower for both (2:35 for the 800 and 5:37 for the mile). I know what I did wrong in both, which was A. Putting in far less effort than I should have for the 800 and B. Making a bad move in the 4th lap (2nd if it was outdoor). I ran paces in a lot of workouts since December for the 800 and mile which felt comfortable going a lot faster, but wasn't able to actually deliver this weekend.
I have a meet on Wednesday, the 13th and am wondering if I just had a bad meet or not. I've practiced 6 days a week every week since late december but am running a lot slower than I would have hoped for my first meet. Do I have any hope of running a good bit faster than I did during the two events this weekend? (my only track time before these two was a 10:50 3k in a time trial if that means anything). Thank you
