Today one of the most insulting things happened in my teaching career. A senior boy got mad that another student took one of his mini muffins so he started screaming and cussing. When I told him to calm down he got up screamed the f word at me and then threw his desk across the room. Today he is running around the halls screaming and skipping class instead of being suspended. Apparently admin reviewed the camera footage and said that he didn't throw but kicked the chair and it "didn't really go that far across the room" so they didn't think he should be suspended. Are you kidding? Who cares if he did a mixture of pushed and kicked the chair instead of throwing it above his head? Also who cares if it only went 3 ft and not 5 ft? I was literally speechless and completely baffled that this was the response. I almost wanted to cry. Like what the kid did was fine and I was being dramatic or something. The fact that admin is willing to bend over backwards to give excuses for the kids bad behavior is insane to me. I've also seen this kid go off on the principal before and nothing happened so it's clear that this particular student gets special treatment. Has anyone else had an experience like this?
