After breaking Patti Sue Plummer’s 36 year-old high school mile record, Katelyn Tuohy paved the way for modern high school girls to show that it’s possible. Since then, there are a MASSIVE amount of incredibly fast girls.
Last night, Englehardt showed an incredible ability to get passed with 400m to go and immediately gain the lead back and show just how amazingly talented she is. #2 all-time only behind Tuohy, and ahead of Plummer.

It was Patti Sue’s sister, Polly, that held the girls’ mile record.
Englehardt’s 1500m time coverts to about 4:30, so I was hoping for a sub-4:30 from her last night, but still a great race.

Patti Sue [Plumer] was the college/pro star. Her sister Polly was the high school phenom and record-holder.

I didn’t watch the race but saw the splits & noticed the 2nd placers 3rd lap split was close to Sadie’s. I think this meet proved that Sadie has competition on the hs level

I know the 3200 is the famous distance at Arcadia and Jane Hedengren was originally entered in both the mile and the 3200. But I'm glad Hedengren ended up deciding to run the mile against Engelhardt. That was much more interesting than seeing Sadie run the whole race by herself.
Hopefully we get to see another Hedengren vs Engelhardt mile at Brooks PR.

Oh, you’re right! As well as ChatLRC, oops! Thanks for the correction.

I think its clear that she has a hard time running at that level solo. She needs other athletes who are as fast or faster than her to push her to be better. I think we'll see another jump from her in college to that sub 4:30 level.

She's always had national competition. You can count on her to run 4:34 - 4:40, then out of the blue someone like Frias runs a pb and gets her in a national meet.
She's a lock though in California this year at 1500/mile. Probably will have competition at 800 and 3200.
Nationally, she'd have to run 4:2x to guarantee a win...and she is capable of that.

Not in the 800. L'Mio Edwards only ran 2:06 by drafting off of Sadie.
3200? Maybe. Not sure who else in the state is capable of running 9:45ish, though.
She looks like a college senior. I wonder how much upside she has.
Good for her - rather she look like that than one who is very thin. It isn't hurting EPSP.
She is getting to the point where trying to run fast on her own is difficult (it is a lot tougher mentally). So is ready to get to College (and she is old for a Junior if her birthday is August 2006) and race against that level of competition on a normal and regular basis. I also like that she runs Miles more than 3200's (with a 2.03 800), as she has all of College to move up, and take that speed with her.
