See title. Recently anew Fleet Feet store opened up in my city. It's operated and owned by a middle aged guy with a big beer belly gut and his fat wife.
On the Google Map listing for the store the owners posted a group photo of themselves with two employees. Both of those employees were obese (fatter than the owners). All four fats were wearing HOKA or Brooks shoes. Yeah...figures right?
As with any Fleet Feet store the owners instruct their sales associates to aggressively push ancillary products onto customers that walk through the door. On Google Maps there's already a couple of angry reviews that touch on this. One guy went in there for a specific shoe and the sales team tried to pressure him to buy a different, more expensive shoe. Another customer went in for a shoe and the sales team tried to hardsell them on socks and accessories they didn't need or want.
The layout of the store looks like a tourist trap. Upfront at the bay windows are displays of numerous HOKA and Brooks shoes. Shoes no real runner would wear. In the middle of the store are small round display tables with yet more HOKA and Brooks models. It's evident that the owners don't know anything about running.
I think Fleet Feet stinks in general and when it's run by fats it really sucks. We got fat out of shape boomers out here with money saved up thinking they can buy their way into a Fleet Feet franchise store and get rich scamming people with 3D foot scans and selling Superfeet insoles.
Do runners still shop at Fleet Feet and why?
