You can always call posters who dive a little under the surface for fanatics. But I’m getting a lot of downvotes, not only from the British, but clearly also from Norwegians (because I try to nuance a little about Jakob, and some think one shouldn’t “criticise” one’s own kind)…
If I was a Jakob fanatics why would I post in another thread that had an argument that Wightman was a nobody -I posted a strong defence of him being one of the best aside of Jakob. And I listed up all the famous athletes he destroyed in the mentioned Oslo Diamond league. And I, as in this current thread, made a point out of Jake being very near Jakob’s season best (2022), when I instead could have tried to belittle him for being more than 3 sec behind Jakob in the mile earlier that summer… And like this I could go on and on.
There are people on this forum that don’t like long posts. (Some even think it’s tired-some to read so much -they will do their voting fast and shallow, and never post themselves, or try to argue for their voting). But most of all I think people dislike a reasoning / a person they consider being a radical (even in cases where they agree in some of the argument -one feels estranged from the other person’s arguments and reasoning because it is too deep, detailed or original or or real). Radical means “go to the root” -a lot of people really don’t like this, afraid of in general getting to something (demanding) radically in life, and afraid of being “a tree” the one who goes to the root could axe down…
I think the ones who pose a lot of views they never feel any urge to argue or reason for are the fanatically ones. -Governed by feelings that never has been under thrown reasoning or arguments…
I am of course one who has to take the above mentioned into account, and expect some downvotes.-Just the name of the game! But worse is the unreasonable opposition that comes when Jakob tries to say something deep and real and concrete and honest -hope he still shields himself from most of the noise.
You're not getting downvoted because you're radical, but precisely because your writings are plain boring and trivial.
Man, you just confirmed every argument I posed in my previous post. But of course that’s your privilege -sure there are some upsides for you by trying to hold my bla bla bla at distance..! (I have been called many things, yes, boring and trivial, but also pretentious and hard to understand. I guess consensus here will never quite be reached). And even harder to understand: Sometimes I get more ups than downs (votes)…
1) Won a World Champs 1500m Gold 2) Run under any of 1:46, 1:45, 1:44 & 1:43.7 3) Broken either 50s or 49s for 400 4) Has his Nation's 800m Record 5) Has his Nation's 1000m Record 6) Won a European U20 1500m Champs 7) Beaten a better level of domestic field for National titles 8) Got the quicker Road Mile time 9) Has a kick in races 10) Has a normal sized ego 11) Is able to run at all currently
With you on everything but 7). How is not two bronze medallist a better domestic field?
3) Broken either 50s or 49s for 400 6) Won a European U20 1500m Champs 8) Got the quicker Road Mile time 11) Is able to run at all currently
3) Yeah the guy who ran 51 flat 7 years ago, that surely must be his limit at 400. You're not being obtuse at all here.
6) Wow a Euro U20 win in the 1500. That's definitely more impressive than double gold in the 1500 and 5000 back to back in the Euro Senior men's division (not U20) right?
8) Good point actually. Someone go tell Hicham El Guerrouj he's not actually the best miler because he never ran a road mile, Hobbs Kessler and Jake Wightman >>> El G
9) Closing in 53 at the end of a 5000 doesn't count as a kick to you?
11) Jakob did a treadmill workout yesterday, I think that counts as being able to "run at all".

No seriously guys, Wightman's 3:50 road mile? Yeah Jakob, the guy who ran 3:43 could never touch that.
Since Jakob is only a 51s 400m guy (that's his PR, he can't run any faster) did you know that McSweyn only has a 4:11 road mile PR? Did you also know McSweyn only has an 800 PR of 2:01,that's slower than my HS PR, he wouldn't even make it out of a decent high school league, wow he's really slow!
It now looks like Wightman will be racing outdoor on Feb 15. Following his indoor 1500m PB (3:34.06) from a couple of weeks ago. I assume that he is in 3:30 or 3:31 shape at this point.

Wightman is not quite in 3:31 shape yet. He only managed a 3:52.2 mile.
He did however run a 5k PB of 13:52 recently (crazy how slow he is at 5k).
Jakob usually starts his outdoor season in May (after having run XC and indoor track)
Any news on Jakob’s next race?
We are only 4 months away from the start of the Olympics for him (Aug 4). It’s coming soon.
A PS here, because I forgot a couple of points: You said something about Jakob not being able to run at all. -But that was also inaccurate, and old news: If you had read all the translated newspaper interviews you would f.ex seen a recent 5 x 6 min intervals by the guy…
And again: You stress a fierce competition for Wightman at home, and stripped down to reality only Kerr seems more competitive than the Norwegians (Jakob must face). -Nordås ran a much faster last lap than Kerr (WC), and also beat him easily in the fast race at Bislett. And you also seem to build far too much on Kerr’s WC win ( one could make an argument that his Oly bronze was better -a faster race- and facts are that he beat a sick favourite that did most of the work, and hardly beat another Norwegian (Nordås) that only months before had a 3.36 pb… And when Kerr says he doesn’t know who is the best time trailer of him and Jakob: There were plenty of time trails in 2023 -at Bislett Kerr was one of the few elites that couldn’t go sub 3.30 and at Lausanne he had the draft from Jakob’s back all the way, and then was easily out kicked on the home straight, even by a steeplechase specialist who ran his first 1500m ever…
