No need to be negative on this exciting day. I’m perhaps one of the most loyal and avid followers of amateur and professional Running. My Florida connections give me insight most on LRC don’t have.

There is currently a preponderance of nervousness and questioning of race preparations by the athletes with just over two hours before the start gun makes a sound.

If they had gone with the 8am start the conditions would have been pretty damn good for a fast marathon.

Has there ever been, in the history of the trials, this high a percentage of DNS? Krifchin running but 7 months pregnant.

The patella fracture thing reminds me of the early 90's when suddenly a slew of top females went down with appendicitis. And let's not forget the 80's when suddenly 80% of the runners had asthma.

I think the DNF rate will be pretty high as well

My predictions:

Mantz, Rupp, Chelimo (>2:08:10)

Saina / Sisson (1/2 in either order), and then a random athlete.

Track Shack sold out of gear yesterday very early. Hopefully I can find something at the race site 🙏 🙂

It’s just before 9am and I’m fortunate to already be in a great spot to view the race. Plenty of space on Rosalind Avenue to watch the final kick. Rooting for Sara Hall to pull off what she did in London 2020.

Scott Fauble can’t seriously think it’s going to take sub 2:08 to be top 3. He run pretty conservative. Could he be trying to get in people’s head so they go out to fast and blow up while he sits back and waits to pick them off?

Rupp in his prime would easily win today. I still have him making team as long as he finishes strong. I’m going with Korir over Chelimo. And probably unwisely having Clayton Young over Mantz because of Connor’s stress reaction in November. Winning time in the 2:09 range.

For the women Sisson and Saina. Natosha Rogers is my sentimental third pick. Time in the 2:24 range.

Any chance NBC does a profile on the chick with the OnlyFans site?

I asked this before in a thread but didn't get an answer. Do all of the expected winners have their A standard or are there some who will have to push the pace to try to achieve their A standard at the trials?
