I still find that 1:49 questionable. It was a time he ran almost by himself, in a pretty low-key meet, and hasn't been able to get anywhere near it in forthcoming meets with wayyy more competitive fields (closest he got I believe was APU distance meet with a 1:52)
Not to mention the season had barely began when he ran that time. And his mile time is only 4:10.

Very odd
Scratch that last part, his full mile is 4:23. Which he ran at ARCADIA of all places (though he ran 4:10 for 1600).
I still think Ligons will take the 800, I know he's been regressing but I think he has a 1:49 in him. He eased a 1:55 at his league final so he'll clearly go way faster next week at SS divisions.
Dybdahl did a double at his league finals with a 1:56 and 4:18, placing 2nd for both. I'm gonna assume maybe he was jogging though I'm surpised he'd go as far as giving up the win
Why does everyone think Holly Barker will win? I don't think she will win because she choked at OC Champs and APU and hasn't broken 10 yet. Jaelyn Williams has a superior kick and time and beat her at NXN. Maybe I'm just a delusional old man but someone clue me in here?
This is the best Frosh/Soph team in the country as it has depth and top end talent as three guys under 9:20 is ridiculous. Has the chance to be the best team that the Jesuit coach has ever had out of the 50+ years of coaching which is saying a lot. Hope these guys can stay healthy because they should be fun to watch the next few years.

Niwot (Colorado) took 5th at NXN with their #1,2,3,4, and 6 being freshmen and sophomores
There are 2 other Jesuit teams with really good frosh-soph classes - Jesuit LA and Jesuit OR. Belen Jesuit Prep FL has a freshman who ran an 8:50 at Arcadia
If you're going to criticize a 16 year old kid, do your research. He started out season with a 1:18 600 chasing down Ricks and Liggons. Follows up with a 4:13 full mile (2nd place) and 1:52 (win) indoors in Washington (same day). That was followed by his 1:49 800 that is on video so you can remove the "questionable" concerns which was followed by a 4:10 1600 and then a 1:52 tactical (but big) win at Azusa (going 58-54). According to PrepCal he has a stress reaction. According to 99% of the world this kid's 2024 season is a high school career for them. Any other enlightenment you'd like to share?
Chase Hansen was a no show for the 400 at his league finals.
The state meet this year is cooked
What even happened to the Oaks Christian team? They ran 40.9 last year with a team of ALL UNDERCLASSMEN and only 1 of them has run more than like, 3 races this year.
Also, if Chase Hansen is out then Dylan Ochoa looks like the favorite. I guess he probably was beforehand but I chose Hansen since Oaks Christian typically has a pretty good record at the state meet.

I don’t think anyone is criticizing the kid. He’s a clearly a huge talent. But I think it’s fair to speculate about a possible connection between the quality of the performances he was running in Jan/Feb and his inability to finish his outdoor season healthy.

Jaelyn Williams will probably beat Holly Barker, but it will be close.
