Lock it in. He’ll be in 3:31 shape by the trials and has the tactical genius to destroy novice runners like Hobbs.

Willis was clean with good continuity although not everyone has that level of durability and persistence.
Centro has a much better chance of winning the 5000m at trials if he gets the mark.
He sure won’t.
If he consistently trains with Grant Fisher then he just might.
Aged out 1500m runners is why Olympics and W.C. need 3000m. Eight-hundred/fifteen hundred meter women can move up and earn medals, 5000m. Not as much depth for women athletes. Prime athletic years overlap with prime child-bearing years. How many male, f.a.t. sub-1:45 800m men have earned Olympic &/or W.C. 5000m medal(s)? Said Aouita. Anyone else? Fifteen-hundred meter stars and 100m and Marathon stars are the attractions, T&F. T&F can keep 1500m stars relevant for a bit longer. I don't want to read Sal-something polluting our brains with nonsense that Hicham el G was a secret sub-1:45 800m man.
Mere 3:31 shape isn't enough to win these trials anymore
lol just lol
Ok. Fan boy.
I could see a crazy 2nd, I don't see him at the goose's level for the win though. No hate, I definitely agree with that thread saying he is underrated in terms of legacy.

Centro will win the olympic trials
I clicked on this thread just to see the date. I thought maybe it was a thread started in 2016 that someone just bumped.

Posts like this pump up the over 30 crowd but if he didn't win the Trials 3 years ago after running 3:35 in mid-May (in a race he won convincingly) why do we think he'll do it 3 years later after finishing third in a race in 3:35, particularly when he has to race the man who had time to SHHH him 3 years ago plus a 3:43 miler?

Perhaps Centro qualifies, but I struggle heavily to see him winning. Really, I struggle to see anyone except for Nuguse winning, he’s just in a completely different conversation than everyone else who’ll be at the trials except for Hocker to an extent. And speaking of Hocker, he beat Centro 3 years ago and Hocker has only gotten better since then, while Centro has only gotten older. If he qualifies, it’ll have to be off the third spot. But let’s not get too carried away, Nuguse is very easily the favorite for actually winning.

he most likely won't even make the finals.

Such a bold anonymous prediction

There’s gonna be 2-3 people in sub 3:30 shape in these trials.
Centro is one of my most favorite athletes of all time but I don’t see any way he could feasibly win this race. There are multiple people with better raw endurance than him and multiple people with better speed/kicks than him.
I'm rooting for him to be competitive, but it would be a bad sign about the fitness of our young stars if he made the team.
