Not surprised since it is the season for airborne illnesses. I had it and it was mildly annoying. Presented as a mild headache with lots of sneezing, post nasal drip. Felt like the height of allergy season for about a week.
It’s no longer a novel pathogen. Your body already has the blueprint to deal with it. It will likely behave about the same as every other coronavirus you were exposed to prior to COVID that you didn’t have a name for and simply referred to as a cold.
Covid is no longer a novel pathogen so death rates are an order of magnitude from 2020-2021, but death rates over the past 6 months or so are running about 40k/year which is comparable (finally) to a "bad flu" year.
A caveat is that period (the past 6 months) doesn't include the normal seasonal peak for flu-like pathogens, so 40k/year is likely a low side estimate.
Don't worry....
"Only two weeks to flatten the curve!"
Luckily its only the anti vax people still getting COVID. They should have just gotten the jab!
You believe that?
The people I know that have had COVID lately were very much pro vax people. Two claim to have never had COVID up to this point, and they felt like they got hit by a truck.
I got it after visiting Europe. This was my first time. I am in my 60s so was a bit nervous but almost nothing happened - just like a minor cold. I almost didn’t test for it and would have gone out into public had I not. I suspect there are more people than ever who don’t suspect they have it, don’t test for it, and then go out spreading it around.
It will have cycles of going up and down basically forever
Meanwhile the current booster is targeted to a variant that is no longer circulating. Incredible how many people continue to let themselves be fooled.
Obviously, the CDC tracks vaccination status of all covid Hospital admissions. Can anyone provide a link to current covid hospitalization Trends by vaccination status? I can't find one.
Lol.
Not exactly what you've asked for, but there are various studies behind the vaccine recommendations. Most recent data seems vaccine effectiveness on the order of 50% for hospitalization. The situation is similar to the flu vaccines in that the vaccines inevitably trail the most prevalent mutations so it's becoming a bit of a guessing game trying to keep up.
Actually, I know 12 members out of 24 people in our group tour to Spain (who were required to be vaccinated) who contracted covid and were forced to drop out. You are just as uninformed as the anti-vaxers
