Is this from personal experience or are you repeating something you’ve heard? because I’ve heard that too but not sure if I believe it. Do you use plated trainers on your easy runs? If so which ones
At what marathon pace are supershoes virtually useless (or cumbersome)?
There’s data from Joubert about this, and it showed the performance benefit dropped to something like 1% at 8-minute pace and about 25-30% of runners actually showed a detriment at slower paces. So, basically, a two-in-three chance that you’ll see a “benefit" within the margin of error, and a one-in-three chance they’ll hurt performance. I don’t wear my supershoes on daily runs for exactly this reason. If you want the cushion, there are non-plated shoes with the same foam.
They minimize the impact on your legs no matter what your speed. They may not make you faster at slower paces, but you'll recover quicker.

It has nothing to do with pace. It's more about color and height. Bright pink supershoes match well with lime green knee high socks. Also if you're under 5'6" supershoes give you a little extra hight. Good luck!

This confirms my experience (as a slow runner). I run shorter races, but and I've measured that @ my 7:10/mile the benefit is indeed around that 1%. I kinda knew that it's not worth it to buy something like that since I'm so slow. But the one pair I have was absurdly discounted and they had my size.
