Yeah, the way to really dominate on the world's biggest stage is to put the trust of USA distance running in someone who's best coaching results are a single 3:54.93 mile and a 13:37 5k.
I know, I know, his real proven success is where he's coached two females to sub 4:40 miles. It's not a stretch to think his coaching chops could put the USA on the level of the East Africans.
I just got really excited to think this could be the plan for USA domination in '28!!!
So is the LA ‘28 distance pipeline going to run through a Cali High Altitude Camp, hmmm?

It’s hard to think of any coaches with better resumes. I’m on board with this idea. If you can coach a 3:54 and sub 4:40, you clearly can coach the best of the best.
With the tailspin breakup of the BTC, is a door being opened for a new, fresh direction, to fill the void? Is the idea, that Druder floated on this very forum, happening?

It's called sarcasm. It's laughable to think Nike would put any faith in a coach with his resume when there are literally dozens, if not more, coaches in the college ranks with MUCH more success and experience coaching high level athletes (never mind other pro coaches). He has 6 years of high school coaching experience and one year of coaching in college with very modest success compared with his coaching colleagues around the country. Andy Powell, Mike Smith, Mark Wetmore, Vin, Santos, Taylor, Henes, Dave Smith, Sean Carlson, VanHoy, Miltenberg, etc, etc, etc. I mean come on. Who is the absolute highest level person he has ever coached? Leo Young or Ronan Staggs? Maybe Barnett, who he has coached for a few months? You may think he will be a star in the coaching ranks some day, but as of today, it's just wishing.

I think you missed the previous posts on this thread. This came up and debunked. The guy can coach and just like other pro coaches it’s not about a long resumes. Although Brosnan is proving he’s a top coach. Pro groups go for the future and Brosnan is the future hands down. Look at Ritz, he never coached much before OAC, Danny Mackey never coached much before Brooks Beast, Al Sal was a High School Coach before Nike. Pete Julian had mild NCAA success before Nike, Ben Rosario didn’t coach much before Hoka , also Alan Culpepper also didn’t do much before Hoka, the list goes on and on. Brosnan is a top coach even if you hate the man. He’s a great choice for Nike and if you’re an actual top coach you understand that.

You declare it debunked. OK.
He has proven he can coach; high schoolers. He has 9 months of coaching experience beyond.
All those other people you mentioned have something in common that he lacks. They all ran at the highest level. Brosnan was a NAIA runner who ran recreationally for a few years in his 30’s despite his claims (which have actually been debunked).
He may turn out to be a top coach if he can prove it in the D1 college ranks. As of now, it’s pure hope and speciation without evidence. Good luck to him. This has nothing to do with liking or disliking the person. It’s a realistic assessment of his coaching resume.

Why would you think I hate the man? Because I don't think his resume matches the coaches I listed before? I don't know him, have never met him and don't have a personal opinion of him as a person.
Besides all the coaches I've listed, it seems absurd that you think he has the same background as the coaches you've listed, who have been, NCAA All-Americans, National Champions, Olympians, Olympic Trials qualifiers, and on and on. To summarize Ritz's background as never coached much before, or Al Sal as a high school coach, or Culpepper didn't do much before HOKA is really laughable.

Brosnan is perfectly qualified. Being a pro runner doesn’t make you a good coach as you seem to think. From what I heard Brosnan has been around some of the most accomplished distance coaches and that alone gives him an advantage. He seems to have those contacts for a reason. You’re also not addressing the non pro runners listed with hardly any experience. But I guess you can ignore those cards.
The bottom line Sean Brosnan can coach and could definitely be a candidate for a pro group. This is all speculation anyway and no one really knows why he was in Beaverton.

Please list his perfect qualifications compared with all the coaches listed previously.
what exactly does being around some of the most accomplished distances coaches mean?

OK, so being a pro runner doesn't make you a good coach. What do you suppose does make you qualified to start a pro group from the biggest brand in the sport?
I'll start. 1) Having success for a significant period of time coaching at the highest level (D1 or even D2 NCAA). 2) Coaching experience with athletes at a level close to the top of the sport. 3) Having personal experience competing at the highest level. 4) Working as an assistant in a program or with a coach that is at the highest level for a significant period of time.
Of course ALL of those aren't required, but one or more would be mandatory. I don't believe Brosnan has any of those qualifications. His qualification is coaching elite high school kids for a few years. The college and pro coaches listed before have those qualifications.
Name someone in the list of college or pro coaches whose resume wasn't superior to Brosnan when they got there pro coaching job.
When you say, he "can coach", what does that mean? There are thousands of coaches who "can coach", but can he coach at the highest level? Who knows, but there is nothing in his past that shows he can or has coached Olympic level athletes. Maybe after a few years at UCLA, he produces some NCAA champs or teams that challenge for NCAA titles. Maybe he coaches the Youngs to sub 13:00 5ks. Maybe some else he coaches post collegiately makes an Olympic or World team. Until he does some of those things, he is unproven. As of now, his best results are 3:54 and 13:37. Those are a long way from showing you can coach at an elite level.
To reiterate, I don't know him, have an opinion about him as a person or have any grudge and I'm not a "hater". I'm just objectively saying there are literally several dozen coaches who are far more qualified for a pro coaching gig at Nike.
Brosnan had all of his UCLA distance team race at Bryan Clay, but somehow found his way to MT SAC on Saturday afternoon to hangout with his Nike lackey’s. I’m not going to throw names out there, but you know who I’m talking about. He was tucked away in the corner of the stands sitting away from everyone in all Nike clothing and nothing said UCLA on it. I went to the Bryan Clay later that night and there was Brosnan with his UCLA team in a total different set of clothes. Only now sporting UCLA colors. Did anyone else see this. No way I was the only one who noticed this. Anyone else think this is shady.

Your obsession with Sean Brosnan isn’t healthy. Get another hobby.
