The article was initially entiteld, "Zane Robertston!!!!" but we changed it to make it more descriptive. Here is our article on his bust and fake excuses (he said he went to a hospital for a COvid-19 vaccine but they gave him EPO instead) which points out that in 2016 he expressed frutation at the amount of doping in the sport:
You've just proven you are completely unaware of the stream of busts that have come out of Kenya over recent years - and are still coming. Or you're a liar - as are many of your doping athletes with their bs excuses.
I do think Zane is mostly being truthful about his emotional journey since getting busted, and maybe even about this being a one-off event. But I am having a hard time buying his story about where he got his EPO. Granted, I understand this would be the most sensitive part of the story and perhaps he does feel pressured to keep this a secret.
I'm just trying to understand how it would be possible to smuggle EPO--a drug that must remain refrigerated--from Ethiopia into Kenya WITHOUT being noticed. I literally have no idea how plausible this would be. I know for certain this would definitely be difficult entering into a country like the US, especially if flying into the country. Could someone speak to this for Kenya?
My understanding is also that the typical shelf life of the standard EPO drug is 24 months. Zane claims the EPO his ex wife got (a single vial?) was just sitting at home (in his fridge?) for a long time. Would the timeline here even allow it to be plausible this alleged EPO vial was still good at the time he took it?
I just wish so badly we could get a full, detailed account of what really happened.
Getting it past customs is the only question remaining here because apparently, EPO isn't as perishable as you think:
In the event of an inadvertent temperature excursion the following data may be used: The licensed product literature states that if Eprex is removed from the fridge, it can be stored up to 25°C for a single period of up to 3 days without being replaced. If the medicine has not been used at the end of this period, it should be disposed of.
So was it just one vial or a "boatload" as some here like to say?
So it's two, one of them actually from your country. For our stupid one that's over 25.
You've just proven you are completely unaware of the stream of busts that have come out of Kenya over recent years - and are still coming. Or you're a liar - as are many of your doping athletes with their bs excuses.
He asked you for facts. You said at least two Kenyans a week.

"Right now we're in the intensive care unit," Athletics Kenya official Barnabas Korir, warned.
Still trying to make this about Kenya even after listening to him admit he made deliberate, considered choice whilst living in a neighbouring country? Must be sad to being you.
Zane going to these lengths of fraud - providing false documents, medical records, affidavits full of lies - would this be grounds to be criminally charged? Lying is one thing, but he is documenting his fraud to an extreme level. If someone did this multiple forums, you would go to jail.
Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up in prison for something else down the road. His desperation, lies and mental instability point in that direction, unfortunately. Can't run professionally forever.
I do hope he uses this situation to better himself rather than going down a rabbit hole. Even though he's a drug cheat, I'm rooting for him and hoping he can find success and positivity going forward.
There's a plethora of dopers in the sport. It's hard to take elite international distance running seriously anymore. Even the testing system is a joke with advanced warning and loopholes galore. 99% of the cheaters don't get caught. Robertson did because he was careless, not too smart and lazy.

There is a stench coming off these pages. It's called doping denial. And it's coming from deniers of Kenyan doping.
Robertson chose to dope. But he chose to dope in one of the easiest countries in the world to dope, where doping has become a common practice. End of story.

The only stench here is the one left by your rage.
The posters you have been addressing have not denied doping exists in Kenya. Your rage blinds you. This thread is about Zane Robinson, a New Zealander, who doped.
Whether he got the EPO in Ethiopia, in Kenya or in Auckland is irrelevant, because he could get it in any of those places. The relevant part is that he doped, he lied, and we will probably never know where he got the EPO.
He has probably been doping for years and got EPO wherever he went.
You are trying to turn this into a thread about doping in Kenya, and Kenyan dopers. You have plenty of threads for that.
Robertson chose to dope. But he chose to dope in one of the easiest countries in the world to dope, where doping has become a common practice. End of story.
You wish that was the end of story. He has probably been doping in different countries.
How does one square the claimed one-time EPO use with DFSNZ saying they asked UK authorities to test him specifically? If they were tipped off that he was using it couldn’t have been an isolated doping experiment.

I too wonder about this too. This thing looks like a sting and it's easy to think they were suspicious of him. I wonder if they also asked to have Jake tested as well. On the other hand, maybe DFNZ knew it was time to test him but didn't want to spend money sending a tester to the wilds of Kenya to find him and decided to ask UK Athletics to do it while he was in the neighborhood.
Kenya's government is urging World Athletics not to ban the country from the sport, promising to step up its fight against the use of banned substances after a series of its athletes were suspended for doping.
I'm sure you will share this list of 25+ - or wouldn't you?
I don't keep a list, Armweakstupid. I simply read the announcements coming out of Kenya on a weekly basis. You obviously don't. There was yet another Kenyan distance runner popped the week before Robertson. It's been a flood that exceeds any other country. Coe has said Kenyans made up 40% of total doping positives in athletics over 2022. They're still at it.
You claimed this year at least two Kenyans were busted per week. This would be 25 at the absolute minimum. So far you mentioned one Kenyan and one from your own country!!
You will never list the names of those 25+ - because you can't. Because you lied. As so often.
Zane also thinks the sport isn't a level playing field because "my a** was getting handed to me" every time. He believes that he should be the benchmark for clean excellence. Sounds a bit entitled.
Why is anyone giving any credibility to this liar?
Why are so many people defending Kenya?
And people wonder why we have a doping problem.
Zane has no morals and no credibility - like Kenya, Ethiopia Jamaica, Norway, Spain and Coe. Other countries and the rest of sport have embarrassingly low levels.

According to the magazine article linked to previously there are currently 51 Kenyan athletes serving doping viloation suspensions.
