Three-time Atlantic Coast Conference player of the year Elizabeth Kitley of Virginia Tech will miss the Women's NCAA Tournament, she announced on social media. Kitley, a second-team All American and the Hokies' top scorer and...
And JuJu will surpass Clark further accelerating the popularity of women's basketball.
Perhaps. Barring injury she may actually surpass Clark's scoring record. Hard to say this early in her career. What I love most about her is her size and her ability to play off the dribble and create her own shot. And even as a freshman she is very respectful of what Clark has done for the women's game. After the game when she scored 51 and everyone was losing their minds and even the announcers were playfully dismissing Clark's accomplishments because of what they just saw she made it clear what she thought about Clark:
"Ah nah don't do that. Don't do that. Much respect there"
Thats a freshman calling out a veteran announcer for those comments. And thats great for the women's game. When both those athletes are in the League (and Hidalgo and Brink and others) the WNBA will be in an even better place.

Whether she passes Clark in scoring, I think she'll be the next superstar. I know yhis is hyperbole but in terms of popularity, If Clark is Bird, Hidalgo might be Isaiah and JuJu might become Jordan. The WNBA will be in good hands in a few years.
Hidalgo is 5'6" and JuJu is 6'2" (i know youre aware of this) which is why mentioned Isiah for Hidalgo. I don't think she'll be as dominant at that size.

I didn't say which player would be more dominant in future. I said Hidalgo was a more valuable player right now.
Watkins might have a higher ceiling. But she has to improve her shooting percentage and assist /TO ratio to become truly dominant. (She is shooting .435 from two and .324 from three. Hidalgo is .486 and .348. Clark has been criticized on this board as a gunner. She is shooting .582 from inside the arc.) Right now, she looks more Bryant than Jordan.
My guess is no! The stands are all empty. It’s comical. Yet espn wants to promote womens basketball to no end. Kinda sad. Women play inferior basketball to men and the games are boring
booooo
Courtside seats at Iowa game today were selling for $2,000.00 for a first round game.
...One seat probably equals the whole gate take at NCAA indoor National two weeks ago plus XC nationals last fall combined!
I'll ije Josh Kerr said last month the world Darts championship winner makes more than professional runners.
And speaking of a dominant freshman, Audi Crooks scored 40 on 18-20 shooting. She will play Cam Brink and Stanford next.
She looked like Bill Walton out there. Maryland simply could not contain her down low. I dont see Brink keeping her out of the paint either but Brinks blocking ability could make things tougher for her and she will take away some of those rebounds Crooks got against the smaller Terrapins.
You do realize that the women's tournament is set up so that the #1, #2, #3, and #4 seeds all play at home for the first two rounds, right? Sixteen of the 64 teams play at home! Of course there are good crowds for these games. I wonder how the crowd would look if Notre Dame played their first round game in Spokane, Washington, or if UConn played their first round game in Salt Lake City, or if USC played their opening round in Pittsburgh.
The women's tournament is boring because it is entirely predictable. So far, out of the 30 games played, 29 higher seeds have won. Only one upset (#11 MTSU over #6 Louisville) in the entire first round. Contrast that with the men's tournament, where there were 11 lower seeds win (#14, #13, 2 x #12, 3 x #11, #10, and 3 x #9). BORING!
sorry I didnt reply to this quicker but I was too busy watching that nail biter of a game between Oklahoma and Florida Gulf Coast which was decided on the last shot. But even though it was a nail biter it must have been boring because the higher seed pulled it out. same with watching Dyaisha Fair score 11 points in the final few minutes to give Syracuse the comeback win over 11 seed Arizona. but again... boring... because it wasnt an upset.
did you know there were two 18+ point comebacks in the first round of the womens Tournament this year? thats never happened on the same day before in the mens or womens Tournaments before ever. But I guess it wasnt actually amazingly exciting to watch because the favorites were the teams who came back to win.
Oh and by your logic last years mens Final Four must have been the most exciting one ever! I mean Florida Atlantic and San Diego State making it all the way to the Final Four. The ratings must have been through the roof! Right? Thats what the people want to see! Nobody will want to watch the best womens teams in the country play each other in the Elite Eight and Final Four. whats the fun of that? Its only interesting if crazy upsets happen and the good teams get knocked off. not if there are great games or great teams play each other...

The Stanford Iowa State game was great to watch and amazingly entertaining. Clutch shots, physical play, back and forth, and overtime! Crooks couldn’t shoot through the height of brink and Kiki of Stanford. She was also too slow to guard Kiki on defense and Kiki basically got any shot she wanted. She has a great combo of size, speed, and skill. I was also impressed with Iowa states point guard - she was on fire.
I thought the Iowa state play design was pretty shoddy when they were down 2 in OT with less than 20s left. they should’ve run the same screen action up top that worked all night and either than a driving 2 or the kick out 3.
