Yeah right.. what an ignorant comment. Just for the entertainment of it Tuohy should throw on a football helmet and shoulder pads next time she comes out to warm up for a race. Show mofos like you. TUOHYMANIA 4EVER!!!!
As someone else had mentioned (I believe in the SEC thread about another runner), something to the effect of: {And I’ll use Tuohy in this one}
”Tuohy throws off her sweats and heads to the shot put ring.”
HAHA; in all seriousness, it WOULD make sense for her to hop in a fast 10k. Doesn’t need to compete in it for ACC’s or NCAA’s, etc. Just to DO it. It wouldn’t hurt her training regimen for a fast 10k mid-season. I’m certain she’s capable of a sub-31:00. (This; of course, AFTER she breaks 15:00 in the 5000m).
if she wants the 10k record, she can get it but i dont think she needs a 10k title, obliterating a record would be an enough validation, the same way she didnt bother racing the mile
College season bro! Most distance runners don't compete for 11 months straight!
Why risk it? What's the upside? Why not do all u can in NCAA's and then think about 2024 Olympics as that gets closer?
Wc s aren't really that big and she has zero chance of metaling
She should absolutely compete at USAs if given the opportunity. Any runner should. It's invaluable experience.
How? In what way? What pro runners r peaking at 3 previous seasons before trials and then championships? Seriously what's so important about it? Last year she was obviously dead tired at trials! Why put yourself in that situation?
Good chance she won't even make team and great chance won't make a final! What's so important about it?

Should do the trials but do the 1500 instead of the 5k. Keep working her way down to 4:00.
For someone who reportedly runs 70 miles per week, the 10k record should be the easier record to break than the sub 15 5k.
Tuohy is a second slower than Monson at the mile, technically ran 4:23 too but for 6 meters less.
Tuohy is ten seconds slower than Monson at 3k.
So if we compute it like a dumb track fan like me, if Monson can run 30:03 10k then Tuohy is possibly in 30:40s - 30:50s form right now.
The NCAA record is 31:18 for the 10k. No collegiate runner has gone sub 31 in the 10k. Tuohy could be the first, just like the sub 4:25 mile.
Not so sure about that
1) When Lisa Uhl set that record, 31:18, she later ran 14:55 that season (and didn't run faster for the 10k), and she had no speed in comparison to Tuohy (4:19, 1500m runner). So I don't think that the 10k record is easier for her to break than the 5k record.
2) Last season Monson ran 30:50 for 10k and 14:31 for the 5k. Presumably, she is in better than 14:30 shape right now
3) The fact that Tuohy is so close to Monson over the mile, suggests to me that she is better at the mid distance stuff than the 10k.

Looked pretty good in xc! Which is like 7.5k on track. She could handle a 31 min effort with training!
