I am NOT impressed by this. Simpson was not racing in the super spikes and not sure about the track surfaces except to say that indoors is so fast these days. It is a nice time but nothing extraordinary and also it is what one would expect from her.
Wasn't that set on the oversized UW track in a pro race? Still a strong time.
But I always said, Katelyn was always naturally faster than Cain, Murphy and the rest. But she was just a normal high school kid running her normal slate of races, relays, etc, and never ran in a fast 1500/mile race or on a fast track like UW or BU. (The only time she ran in an invite was at the Armory in the 3000m). And who knows what she could have run as a junior or senior before injuries set her back? I guess this is a good indication.
Salazar killed Cain by not developing her speed! Run the shortest distances u r good at, especially young women who have had injuries!
Develop speed, that's what wins races
She has no competition NCAA 5k and she not close to international level good
What would be down side of focusing on 800\1500 for 1 season???
Seriously???
She'll run xc in fall again, then focus on USA trials?
Mary Cain had issues above and beyond "developing her speed."
Valby is competition for Tuohy in the 5k.
No guarantee that Tuohy will run xc in fall 2023. If she has a great spring, she might go pro.
Please contact Tuohy's coach with your "drop the 5k" idea and let us know how the conversation goes. I would love to hear her coach's reaction.
She’ll at least run 2023 Cross and 2024 Indoor/Outdoor. She has too many advantages to being on the team and having an NIL. Literally no reason to leave the team.
While she’s there, NC State will 3-peat as Cross Country Champions, she’ll re-peat as Individual Cross Champion, get 2 to 4 Indoor Individual Championships and 2 to 4 Outdoor Individual Championships. By the time she walks away from the NCAA, she’ll be the record holder in every event she competed in individually.
