I just enjoy reading the comments so I don't have to think these things to myself. Someone mentioned how bad woodys form is and that is odd to me that he can looks so awkward yet turn on these insane afterburner like he was just warming up the whole race. Could he run off pure hate? Maybe. I think everyone deep down agrees that even if woody is not taking epo he is probably gaming the system somehow. There are some guys out there like Ben true that is super talented but will never come near these kind of times in their career because they choose to race clean. I agree with the posters who mentioned how it could help him get a contract and that is likely a factor but woody has had some really solid performances in the last few years along with fisher and mo Ahmed. I just have the feeling that they are taking advantage of some substance(s) on top of a well regimented schedule of other enhancements. I really do enjoy reading the threads because some of these guys are definitely on something.
Thanks to whoever posted the link to the podcast from 2021. I wanted to like Woody after Gault's interview with him on Friday, but man, hearing that podcast snippet was brutal. (Thanks for posting it, whoever did it.) Not only did Woody say, unequivocally, that Shelby is "100% innocent," he also said, "What is WADA trying to accomplish by busting a clean athlete?" Promoting a wild conspiracy theory is never a good look. And she tested positive for synthetic nandrolone, dude! Are you really "100 percent" sure she's innocent? That really gives me pause and makes me sad. And seeing the podcaster/interviewer nodding vigorously as Woody says these things is just embarrassing.

He also posted the most vehement defense of her on instagram.
Woody's background the kind of rags to riches story, his horrible form, this defense, the 12:51 and the Gault interview just don't add up. He's a cheat.
Remember when he pulled a Lance Armstrong for Shelby?
I will never buy this result. He and Fisher might be teammates, but at least Fisher was relevant prior to dropping an AR. Woody, no pun intended, came out of the wood work. While feel good stories like this are nice and dandy, they are rarely without real suspicion

For crying out loud, is that for real?
1) "I dismissed a guilty verdict, after all there was too much evidence to prove her innocence." Hahahaha, try: zero evidence to prove her innocence.
2) "I could not accept that WADA would convict an innocent athlete" Oh Lord.
a) That doper wasn't innocent;
b) WADA doesn't convict; it was CAS that found her guilty because of all the convincing evidence, as later confirmed by the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland.
Get your story right, before you post publicly, Woody.
I don't know if Woody is doping or not, to be quite frank, I think all the guys near the top are at least in some kind of 'gray area.'
but to say he's come out of nowhere or was a nobody in high school or college is kinda crazy. he's always been super talented but truly just didn't give a sh*t about running for the longest time
here's a great, albeit long, read that all of you should check out before automatically concluding he's doped
Wiping sweat and spit from his face with his t-shirt, 23-year-old Woody Kincaid seemed to be trying hard not to sound arrogant, or stupid, or insulted by reporters’ surprise at his come-from-behind victory in a semifinal heat...
The sport would be so much better if college runners were tested routinely. Jacobs runs for Tennesse. The head coach is a lifelong dope. Tuohy is built like a sprinter. But Woody? He got tested after the race. Leave him alone.
Indoors means nothing these days. The tracks are not completely flat and like a velodrome so centripetal forces and angular momentum do most of the work. It is literally like running in a straight line. Bekele would run sub 12:30 with a modern indoor track and super spikes.

Let's put it this way. If we assume for a moment that Woody is clean, then how fast would he have run if he was pumped up on EPO? 12:3x? Or are we saying that EPO does not work on the fastest guys?

EPO works on people who need it. The severely anemic.
Amazing how little people know about how talented Woody is...
- Colorado state champ
- Broke Galen Rupp's freshmen record at Dellinger XC (24 flat?)
- Outkicked Galen Rupp just after his senior track season at Portland Track Festival (arguably the race that got him practically a walk on spot at BTC)
Whether you want to believe it or not, Woody didn't run more than 200 miles in a month until his senior year of college. The guy was more like Bill Walton than Bob Kennedy. Tried to walk to the Oregon Coast from Portland before getting half way and then deciding it was a bad idea and turning around. Stuff like that was common.
Woody is simply the example of someone with massive talent finally getting his stuff together after college and becoming the best in his field. Steph Curry, Tom Brady, the list goes on. The best teenagers rarely become the best adults.
Couldn’t agree more! If everyone here knew about the Woody Kincaid backstory and antics it would truly cement him the people’s champ.
Something this thread hasn’t addressed is the fact that Woody is finally doing individualized training for the first time since college. At Bowerman he would do 70% of the workout that Grant and Moh we’re doing. The pace was probably too fast for him at that time to get the proper physiological stimulus. True double thresh sessions along with the Boston super track could easily explain the jump from 12:58 to 12:51.
Agreed. Like everyone else here (I guess except for Woody or maybe Schumacher if they're on the boards) I don't know if Woody's clean or not, but the came out of nowhere thing is ridiculous.
He's been competitive on the US stage since he was a senior in college. Around that time there were plenty of interviews where people who knew him from college said he essentially hadn't trained that hard for most of his time at Portland then decided to take it more seriously and took off. I remember Rob Conner gave an interview after Woody broke 13 for the first time where he said he wasn't at all surprised by the result and that he had known for years that Woody had the talent to perform at that level.
I understand suspicion with BTC, but I think Woody's been showing as much potential for world-class performances as anyone else in North America for ~7 years now.
To frame it a different way, is it suspicious (or surprising) for Woody to beat Joe Klecker by 3 seconds in a 5k with a 26-second last lap?
