Seems pretty relevant to show that she went from Alabama to NC State, two average schools. She likely couldn't get admitted to the elite colleges just like most of the NC State women.

I settled on my fallback school, NC State.

I agree with this take. With all the NCAA recruiting and transferring, it seems as some schools built a super squad of athletes ie (arkansas, USC, and Florida). These teams success will also in my opinion be meritless being that multiple national scorers transferred or were recruited in.
The spirit of the sport certainly has been lost. It was originally intended to be an outlet from school and a way to expand the mind. Having schools compete against one another created additional school spirit and community. Creating a super team for one year does nothing for the sport. It discourages 99% of the competitors. People always say to try harder but then support the opposite.
sure and so we should tell Anna Hall to go back to GA, for example?
This transfer is sort of unique in that she doesn't require a scholarship.
How many of all of the top tier Stanford commits are on athletic scholarship vs academic?
By academic, I assume you mean need based. Stanford covers 100% of need but provides almost no merit scholarships. Up until 2 years ago the NCAA counted school need based aid against the athletic cap so schools were not advantaged by finding poor kids who were good at sports. It makes sense that this change will end up boosting teams like Stanford. It hasn't fully been realized yet but Stanford seems to have gotten the best recruiting ever in its current female freshmen class.
I am just trying to figure out what is acceptable to you. If the athlete in question can get her education paid anywhere and does not tie up athletic scholarship money is it her choice to go to a strong team you don't like, or the teams decision to accept her?
Stanford also has a massive endowment so they can give financial aid to people who wouldn’t typically receive it at other colleges. I believe that families making up to the low $300 thousands can still receive (some) aid.
Ah yes, we needed to hear you post this pro-Stanford propaganda for the one thousandth time. We didn't get it the previous 999 times you've posted this drivel. Yes, we get it, Stanford is the "greatest academic school of all times and only the super smartest people go there, and anyone who doesn't go there is an idiot going to a podunk nothing school"
I mean, if you're a great runner and smart, why would you pick an inferior school like NC State?
NC State is #72 in the nation by US News & World Report...which places it well above average among all schools, and higher than virtually all of the current top programs in women's XC (BYU, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, Alabama).
If you're smart, why wouldn't you aim for Harvard/Princeton/Stanford or even a worse school like Notre Dame, Michigan, or Georgetown?
I’m not in the US so perhaps I’m not understanding the situation correctly but maybe one of these scenarios?
—She preferred the team at NC State over Stanford/other schools
—She preferred the coach at NC State “
—She preferred the town/climate/running trails of wherever NC State is
—She hates CA
—Her boyfriend/girlfriend lives closer to NC State
—She felt like it
I’m not sure why it matters to you so much- perhaps it gives you a sense of superiority but it just makes you look childish to harp on someone else’s decision for so long.
