Even though they lose many seniors they will still be very good next year.
What the top 7 is looking to be next year for Mason in XC: Jerry Xu - 12 - 9:20i / 15:32 Max Liao - 12 - 4:19i / 9:31 / 15:37 Brendan Roe - 12 - 4:34i / 16:05 Will Buckalew - 11 - 9:59 / 16:15 Alex Follmer - 12 - 10:03 / 16:29 Noah Kelly - 12 - 10:05i / 4:38 / 16:34 Jason Xu - 11 - 4:38i / 16:52
Others to watch out for: Max Greco - 11 - 2:02 / 4:40i / 16:55 Caden Winship - 10 - 16:57 (as a freshman!), no track results
Here is what Mas. Jackson is looking to have next year: Eli Illg - 11 - 15:26 / 9:08i Elliot Zuckert - 12 - 15:31 / 9:28i William Prato - 12 - 16:11 Cael Ball - 12 - 16:15 Sean McNulty - 11 - 16:31 Carter Hull - 12 - 16:32 Josh Huzyak - 12 - 16:33
Wor. Kilbourne next xc season: Ryan Smith - 12 - 15:13 / 9:07i / 4:18i Steven Miller - 12 - 15:32 / 4:24i AJ Hawkins - 12 - 16:00 / 4:25i They got a strong top 3, but to compete for a state title next year like some people might think they will, they are gonna need a 4th and 5th up there.
Possible Candidates for the 4th and 5th position Jackson Deisler - 10 - 17:22 / 10:28i (as a freshman) Levi Knuth - 12 - 16:40 5k. Not outstanding track results though Nathan Bradley - 11 - 17:02 / 5:03.
Lots of work needs to be done at #4 and 5 (especially 5)
Point taken. But Gabelman did have an ouchy knee and couldn't run in January/Feb.
That said... the dude ran 4:12 last year without an indoor season, so I'm thinking the guy has some talent and maybe the time off is actually a benefit.
I did see your Orange guys get rolled in the 800 and 1600 on Sat tho - Kilbourne's Miller and Coffman's Shaugnessey made your guys look slow at the end. I will say, Schroff looked solid. But... he should be happy Smith didnt opt for the 3200 and Ackley hasn't returned to racing. Diff story in that case.
Agreed. He looked good in that win at Stingel, a nice early season 4:20. He's a patient runner, he negative splits nicely, and he ran that last lap in 61 or so. I don't know if Rice is really a 1600m runner but that is still impressive that Gabelman beat him in that race, as well as Trevor Lanoy and Wes Taylor.
. . . and then he came back to run a 1:56 in the open 800m, a little more than a second behind Thress and right behind Trapp of St. X and ahead of Schorr and Eberhardt. All in a day's work.

This is correct. I don't think a state title is a possibility at all for Kilbourne, but perhaps top five if they run out of their minds. Smith and Miller are both top 10-15 candidates individually (Smith was runner up indoor 3200 in 9:07 - pushing Ackley right to the end), and Miller has gone 4:18, was 29th at XC state as a soph in '21 - beating Saketh R, Sam R, Ilg, Zuckett, etc). If these two go top 10, they can place very high. As stated, they have very little depth and the drop off after Hawkins is significant. Top 10-12 is more likely. I'm not sure they develop talent very well - just the product of a very talented junior class.
For Central OH... Orange is maybe just as good, and they probably have more depth. Schroff just dropped a 9:33 and is closing the gap on those WK guys (he just beat Hawkins by 10 seconds in the Premier 3200), and Saketh R is right there in the top 10 XC mix - 5th in the state 3200 a year ago in 9:09. Orange's coach tends to develop talent really well, so they will probably pack the rest of their top 7 right around Kilboune's 4 & 5.
I see Coffman and Davidson falling off next year without their big guns in the front (Ackley, McGraw, Liam S, etc.), but these coaches are top notch as well. They'll find guys. Lancaster loses a ton, but they're also developing talent. Schorr, Taylor, and Davis (just dropped a 9:40 as a soph!) will have to replace the Lanoy brothers and Colton. I think they can, but I don't see a repeat 2nd at state in the cards for them.
So... all 3 of these teams could actually be better than Kilbourne, and that's just Central OH.
Lancaster has good underclassman depth. They return a lot of talent next season: Taylor - 11 - 4:24 Z Schorr - 11 - 4:33 C Davis - 10 - 4:39 O Rice - 11 - 4:42 E Rice - 11 - 4:46 C Schorr - 11 - 4:46 T Brunney - 10 - 16:55 5k in xc.
They will be good but you are right, it will be too hard for them to get second at state
shut your ugly self up! Yes, Weston got rolled, but that is no fault of my boy Jack. I see you're an Orange fan. How does it feel our 4x400 relay is 8 seconds faster than yours(Weston showed his foot speed in his leg)? Also, for the record, some solid results by Scioto at their home meet this Wednesday in which I announced our seniors for senior night. Jack is doing great things at Scioto right now, and all of you will know it in due time.

Wow, Lancaster is twin central? From the Lanoys to the Rices to the Schorrs?

Yes, it’s much like Newbury Park and Great Oak
This is just a wild guess, but any time you see a lot of multiple births in certain areas, like twins or triplets, it is sometimes due to there being more physicians in that particular area that are using fertility drugs and IVF.
