Washburn doubled 9:04/4:10. I guess he would have gone 8:50/4:05 without the wind.

was he at meet where wind died down? meet I was at was consistant 17 to 20 mph til end
No. Worse on the East side of the state. 22 MPH when he ran 3200 and 17 MPH for 1600
Still waiting for info on mile. Drake put out info on pros and college but silent on HS even though it was setup for sub 4 effort for Heidesch.

Then definitely quicker! Wonder if he will do elite mile?
How many times has Jackson beat birnbaum in a kick?

That Dowling list is incomplete.
I would recommend using this site instead:
Also worth noting that the two fastest 1600 times so far this year are 4:00.99 by Jackson Heidesch (Dowling) and 4:11.92 by Ford Washburn (City High) en route to miles at NBIN, but those won’t count toward Drake Relays qualifying (which obviously won’t be a problem for those two when they choose to go get a Q).
Dowling top nonseniors so far
Derocher - 11 - 9:25
Fiori - 10 - 9:27
Wainwright - 11 - 10:03
Mohan - 10 - 10:14
Wolfe - 10 - 4:28
Burr - 10 - 4:39
Bootman - 11 - 2:02
Paulsen - 9 - 4:50
This team is looking great for next year and 2024 XC.
Will they have any competition next fall? City High reloading?

They will probably get competition from Ankeny (who only loses 1 senior after placing 3rd at state) and Valley (who placed 6th at state and returns their 1-4 plus another 16:56 / 10:11 guy)
Sioux City North returns:
Kifle - 11 - 15:00 / 9:21 / 4:23
Kumbi - 11 - 16:57
C Schultz - 10 - 17:22
K Schultz - 10 - 18:07 - 4:55
Kling - 11 - 17:07
Will they qualify for state next year?
Anyone know where the section assignments for 2023 are?
Any 3200 predictions?

Let’s see what Iowa City High returns
Noble - 11 - 16:28 / 10:17
McRoberts - 9 - 17:57 / 10:11 indoor
Karr - 10 - 16:16 / 4:49 / 10:17
Yoder - 10 - 17:23 (not great track results)
Schaefer - 10 - 17:41 / 5:01
Based on this, they won’t be bad but they won’t be as good as they were during last year’s XC season.
It will be a rebuilding year but I think they will be young.
Johnston always seems to reload. Last year at state they finished second (which is higher than the 2021 state finish) after losing 4 varsity seniors
I wonder how Iowa City High would do in the 4x800.
PRs:
Smith - 1:54.64 in 2022. 1:54.64 this year.
Thompson - 1:55.96 in 2022. 1:56.95 this year.
Washburn - 1:56.69 this year.
Noreldaim - 1:57.43 this year.
They also have Carey had a 800 PR of 2:00 last year. But his 5k XC PR is 15:56. He was also in the top 4 on the team for XC.
All these guys are seniors.
Would do? I assume you're wondering how they will do. They are aiming for 7:39.
Meet assignments aren't made until a week prior. Iowa aligns teams in order to get the best teams to state.
