One strategy if for Jesuit top 7 to tempo at state and still win,
and also go all-out at NXR
It's Louisiana!!! Jesuit will have faster times during a workout today then the second place team will on race day. Many many years ago Louisiana had the state meet so late in the season. Salmen's Bobby Beck had a 14:02 three mile early in the season. The state meet was the day before AAU nationals in St. Louis. He won state in Baton Rouge while Catholic High students spit on him the entire race. Our team finished second and flew that night to St Louis. Smoking 🚬 was still allowed on planes then. Also Basketball Teams didn't have their own planes as we had the Atlanta Hawks on the ride. We think the second hand smoke did us in more than the state meet the day before. Bobby finished second I believe at Nationals that year.

1)They are not doing Nike because there are only 4 days between their state meet and NXR
Well in Minnesota an EIGHTH GRADER Emmett Morse raced a 5K 2 days apart. One of them is a sections race. So if middle schoolers can handle this, high schoolers can

If all of Jesuit’s top 7 are healthy, we might see every single on of them run a 180+ speed rating at nationals. So sad that the SRs for districts aren’t shown
But this year, Newbury Park can put at least 4 guys ahead of Jesuit’s #1
What happened to Vocke? He was their #1 last year and here he lost to 2 guys who never ran in their top 7. Sampedro was their 3rd guy last year but here he lost to a freshman. Hopefully these 2 can bounce back for next year as they try to win a national title. But it won’t be easy without Dowd/Buisson/DesRoches
Here are Jesuit’s returning speed ratings in TullyRunners 180 - Jack DesRoches - 12 178 - Michael Vocke - 11 174 - Lucas Sampedro - 11 173 - Robert Buisson - 12 173 - Leland Crawford - 10 171 - Brady Mullen - 10 169 - Aeric Wender - 12 160 - Patrick Dowd - 12
Vocke - lost to some JV guys at regions Sampedro - barely made the top 7, finishing behind a freshman not on this list Mullen - 6th fastest returning SR, but he lead the team to victories and has broken school records Dowd - was the 8th man last year but has been constantly scoring for Jesuit this year after a stellar track season. If Vocke and Sampedro get healthy next year and freshman Monahan closes the gap, Jesuit LA will be unbeatable next year
