Emily Sisson hasn't raced a fast marathon in years. Can she get the American record in her return to the 26.2 distance? "We’re hoping around 69:30 ," Treacy said. "Get to 20 miles, see where you are, see how you’re feeling an...
I think she goes through the half a little slower than she was aiming for, at 1:09:57. She then picks it up with a negative split and runs the #2 fastest time in U.S. history at 2:19:33.
Dnf is most likely. She’s been beaten by Keira who was way off her AR recently. The last marathon Em did was the trials was a complete flop. No chance she goes sub 220 let alone challenges the record.
She DNF because she knew she was out of contention for the Olympic marathon team and wanted to save her legs for the track. Which worked out well for her because she crushed the trials. Does one DNF mean she isn’t capable of finishing another one? Obviously not.
Also just because D’Amato didn’t get the AR again, she still ran her 2nd fastest time ever which would still be a PR for Sisson. D’Amati cramping up and not having her best day doesn’t mean Sisson isn’t as fit or capable of having a great day. Get a grip.
If Ray Treacy thinks she will break 2:20, I’m pretty confident she will. The man is brilliant when it comes to judging the fitness of the athletes he coaches.
I wonder how she got Johnny Mellor to pace for her. He was incredibly unlucky to miss out on Tokyo - he slept in some compression socks to help with an injury and it gave him gout. He'll still have Olympic ambitions for 2024 so pacing an elite woman looks a little odd
She's an optimal condition runner. Trials had hills and heat. Good weather and she should get it easy.
Someone slept through the women's 10000 Olympic trials last year....
Must have. Did they add hills to the track?
Dealing with adverse conditions on a 30 min race is way different then dealing with them on a 2 hour and 30 min race. You think des or kawauchi beats anyone in that 2018 boston lineup in a 10k with the same weather?

Kim Smith was awesome in every distance but the marathon. Molly Huddle was awesome in every distance but under achieved in the marathon. Amy Cragg was horrible in the marathon until she left Ray.

Did they add hills to the Chicago course? Just keep digging yourself deeper......

Ray is a great Coach MINUS THE MARATHON.
Terrible take. Do you not remember Emily Sisson running 2:23 in her debut? She has only run two marathons… yes she had a bad race at the trials but so did several of the other favorites. She will run fast on Sunday and you can take that to the bank. 2:19:45.

Marathon trials in Atlanta had temps in the 40s with 20-30mph winds.
Sisson destroyed people last summer in Eugene when it was 90F on the track at 11am or whatever time those idiots at USATF decided to run the womens 10,000.
