Some nonbinary runners are irate that Chicago Marathon's new nonbinary division isn't paying out prize money

This society is truly becoming more psychotic by the day.

I hope people call me crazy, because to be labeled sane by whoever thinks this is all normal would be an insult.

I think the first place prize for the winner of the nonbinary division should be 10 free therapy sessions with a psychologist.

They should enter the female division.

If they are not going to give everyone, every last person, a ribbon and a check, why even have this even annually?

They should get the same amount prize money like every other category.

Soon there would a lots of nonbinary runners.

Give 'em an inch, and they ask for a mile indeed! That's why the conversation has to stop at first time of asking. As if the sport isn't already enough of a farce with all of the doping and corruption -- just imagine adding a special mental illness tax on top of it. No thanks. Won't watch it. Won't participate. Won't respect anyone who does -- LRC included. Would love to see coverage of these looney races abandoned entirely.

You want to call yourself a lamp post? Fine. You want to call yourself a cat? Fine. You want to run a marathon as a cat and have a special purse allocated to you and all four of your cat friends? Tough luck. There is no lamp post division. There is no cat division. There is no black skin division. There is no white skin division. There is no webbed toe division. And there is no dyslexic division. Just because you have a pony tail and think you're a unicorn doesn't mean you are one or that you should be paid for it. Take your meds and be happy you can even run a marathon -- some folks have disabilities / mental illnesses that are a lot worse than that.

Speaking of non-binary, USA Triathlon 2023 national championships is going to have separate non-binary divisions.....including for 11-12 year olds. WTF.

Wouldn’t “non-binary” be a gender division? I thought the races categories were based on sex. There’s like 30 genders and I’m pretty sure “non-binary” isn’t in the top 3.

Basically one person is upset about it.

They contacted another person and they weren't upset but said if they'd known about the category they would have competed in it.

A third person said Chicago is doing everything right within the guidelines they've been given.

Doesn't seem like something we all need to get too excited about.

Regardless of how you feel about non-binary people at all, prize money is to entice elite athletes and recocognize extraordinary achievement. There aren't any elite non-binary atheltes.

Of the handful of nonbinary or non-gender conforming individuals I know, most were able to arrive at that "place" after committing to therapy and self-help (that stemmed from a general, unidentifable unhappiness). They're truly happier, more productive people now.

While I agree 100% in the protection of women's sports and am torn on the idea of a non-binary division, I urge you all to have a heart. These are just human beings who want to be happy and do not have any nefarious intentions. I wish you the best, dafuq.

The fact that a non-binary division - a concept that isn't real biologically - even exists is crazy enough.

This is part of the problem. You're right, one person is upset; one person in a city of 2.5 million. Yet, the Chicago Sun-Times picks this story up and runs with it anyway. It is definitely nothing to get upset about but the liberal media is going to do everything it can to try to stir the pot and create a "crisis".

nope. its fine if a crazy person feels better being a cat. but the majorty of not crazy people should not be forced to pretend the crazy person isnt crazy. its also bad to deny reality. a person thinking they are a cat isnt actually a cat. the people pretending people can be cats or non binary are more delusional and crazy than those thinking the last election was stolen.

Any therapy or self-help program can be directed to reach a particular desired outcome. If you know a "handful", that's an indication you're either in an influenced community, or wilfully surrounding yourself with influenced people. Non-binary is not ubiquitous enough to justify you knowing that many non-conforming individuals.
