^ I don’t know if it was already mentioned but Connor Ackley committed to Syracuse.
Syracuse has seen a bit of a resurgence of their distance program after having some down years in the post-Fox period. Pick Central’s Matt Scrape is there now and has been a solid 5-7 this season for the Orange. The team is now in the top 10 and running in Stillwater this weekend. I could be mistaken but Scrape may still have XC eligibility. I can’t keep track of where guys are in eligibility anymore with the redshirting, covid, etc
Does anyone know if Mason’s Isaac Schachleiter is injured? After a DNF at the state meet and an off race at NXR, I’m wondering if he is injured again.
I noticed that Schachleiter is not committed anywhere, at least according to MileSplit. He’s a huge talent and will be good collegiately. I was sorry to see his recent struggles.
Also worth noting is that Glen Oak’s Tommy Rice committed to Tennessee. The Vols have also had a bit of a resurgence. They had a decent season with past Notre Dame coach Sean Carlson there and grad transfer Dylan Jacobs.
I can’t say that I’m super excited about Katie Clute’s signing with Oregon. I’m not the biggest fan of Jerry Schumacher and Shalane Flanagan given their histories. Good luck to her.
There were some other notable signings from buckeye high schoolers.
The way he takes care of his family sounds like another thing to not be a fan of
His son Eric (Jesuit OR runner) has had injuries in the past. This year at the summer time trial, he was their #6 but since then he hasn’t run a single race.
And look what all this resulted in. Jesuit having a large 4-5 gap, and their defeat by in-state rival Crater at NXR. They almost didn’t autoqualify!!! And last year Jesuit had the 3rd fastest HS XC team in American history. And 4 of their top 6 from that crew is still on the team. The #1 is the same as last year. Now instead of Eric, Jesuit has to depend on the freshmen and sophomores who are their 5-7.
And you know what’s even sillier….not only the questions on here whether Jesuit OR or Jesuit LA is better…but also DYESTAT requesting the set up of the DUAL meet between them!!!
Jesuit LA would CREAM Jesuit OR due to the lack of their 5th!!!! In fact, LA would put 7 ahead of OR’s 5th to displace him

Yeah, Schumacher & Flanagan just have too many red flags around them, IMHO.
I was put off by Flanagan’s bullying of Canadian runner GDS after she left their training group because of Shelby Houlihan’s continued presence around them. It rubbed me the wrong way.
I hope Clute does well there but I would have rather seen her at NC State running for Laurie Henes or at Oklahoma State under Dave Smith.
2023 XC predictions - D1 boys 1- Mas Jackson. Returns the whole team. Was unable to close the 4-5 gap at state since they were missing some scorers. I think it’s their year to win it 2- Mason OH. They return their 1,3,4 from state. Also 2 more sub-16:30 guys 3- St Xavier. Returns 3 scorers. They always have guys step up. Returns 5 under 16:40 4- Wor Kilbourne. Returns 3 under 16:00. Just needs a 4 and 5 5- Dub Coffman. Always a strong program. They have 5 under 16:45 back including 3 studs
