The question now is if this Carmel team ends up being better than their team in 2013, or Columbus North's team in 2010.

Based on speed ratings, they are the #5 team in the nation. And guess what, 3 scorers are coming back.
Newbury park is obviously #1.
jesuit LA and OR are really good.
Herriman UT had better speed ratings at Woodbridge. If they find a #5 to go with their #4, they will be monstrous.
Looks like Mason OH has better speed ratings than Center Grove IN. And Mason’s top returner from last year’s state meet didn’t run yet. They have some major depth outside of their top 7 too.

They seem to have had everybody racing. I’m not sure what’s happening with this team. They continue to underwhelm.
IATCC Poll 9/19/22 -
Top 3 remain from last week. CG, Fishers, and FC move up. Noblesville down 2 spots. Valpo down 3.

If their runners can just run the times they are capable of (i.e. what they ran last year), Center Grove is the #2 team in the state.
Plainfield south (IL) speed ratings are even better than Mason’s

the guy who ran a 166 was their number 3 guy at the state meet last year
so it will take work for center grove to catch up to them
columbus north closed the 4-5 gap
Looks like that was partially from their 4 running slower this week than at Brown County, but their 5 was was still better than Brown County. If their 4 gets back up with the top group and their 5 keeps running they way he is, they might be able to scare Zionsville.
Ceraland course is legit. Solid results for CN.

looks like CN / Zionsville are not very many points behind Carmel
Looks how close Brebeuf’s 5th guy is to Legue.

Predictions for HCC?
1. Zionsville - running away with it
2. Noblesville
3. Franklin Central - I think FC/Fishers will be closer to Noblesville than would maybe seem like a smart bet. This will be Franklin Central's first really competitive meet, and Fishers has been very consistent. Noblesville *is* really good though... All 3 teams score in almost the same ways.
4. Fishers
5. Brownsburg - Brownsburg is kinda frisky! The gap is too large for it to make too much difference this year, but they return their top 4 and have a glut of 17:30 type guys who might take a leap.
6. HSE - Did a great job reloading after graduating a lot. Might be pretty decent again next year.
7. Westfield
8. Avon
On the Girls side
1. Noblesville - again, running away with it. That meet where they put an 8th girl at 19:20 earlier this year was pretty wild.
2. HSE
3. Zionsville - This is a solid top 3; would be shocked if this wasn't the three and their order.
4. Westfield - I know their #1 is coming back this week; giving her and them the benefit of the doubt here
5. Franklin Central - kinda seem to be going the wrong way lately. Did not have a good showing at New Prairie. I'm sure they'll get it together as they have in recent years.
6. Brownsburg - Can see Westfield/FC/Brownsburg in any order.
7. Avon - That's life in the HCC. Probably a fringe top 20 team in the state and fighting an uphill battle to not get last in the conference. Scoring 4, a breakout by any of their 20:00 girls could save a lot of points and elevate them into that tier of 3 above.
8. Fishers
What would be cool to see at the end of the season:
Center Grove getting top 2 at state and maybe NXR.
Brebeuf finishing top 5 or better (maybe top 3) by having their 1-3 guys on, and their 4/5 working well together (with Legue back). Seems like the super frosh Lesnet is making good progress.
I think Center Grove and Brebeuf are the most underwhelming teams this season.
Columbus north is probably the most overwhelming given how many seniors they lost
So next year, Brebeuf returns 5 guys under 18 minutes, but Todd is the only senior in that group. Next year will be a rebuilding year for them, but seems like the year after that they will be strong again
Well I'm glad I hedged with Noblesville being really good. Phew.
Noblesville upset Zionsville… wow
next year Noblesville brings back their 2-6 guys. Them and Carmel should content for an NXR Midwest title.
Mas Jackson from Ohio is looking to be really good as well.
Maybe some Illinois team will come out of nowhere next year. Like Sandburg last year and Plainfield south this year
This was not Carmel’s top 5 but it truly shows how deep they are
