Watch the final hand off. Just before handing the baton off Canada steps over the inside line very clearly. Should have been a DQ for Canada.
stop crying
Whole USA team is top 10 runners and y'all can't beat DeGrasse with a bunch of 30th ranked guys?
this was a huge race for de grasse as he wasnt going to win any of the individual events. in general most of the dudes running relays will never have a chance to podium in an individual event so im sure they take their participation very seriously. even tho the US mens team isnt made up of the top guys they clearly still have an arrogant approach to this event and it shows with the sloppiness. its really that simple. you cant expect to win just by showing up.
USA 19.3 guy got ATE up on the second leg more proof that this 19.3 run was bogus and the product of endurance drugs that allowed him not to drop speed after 100m. Lyles is a 10.1 sprinter running ALL OUT lmmaoooo
Remember that splits include time spent dealing with handoffs. Lyles very poorly judged Coleman's incoming speed and spent a large portion of the zone far below top speed. It was his handoff that allowed him to be eaten up on the backstretch.
And as poor as this handoff was, it was sterling compared to the final handoff. Typical U.S. thinking speed is the only thing that matters in the 4 X 100 relay.
It is ridiculous. Imagine taking all of the best sprinters in the world and picking teams for relays. The US had 1-2-3 in 100 and 200 so they would likely be the 1st 6 picks on 6 different teams if choosing sides. Yet we got the 1st 6 picks. Everyone else would go home if teams were picked not based on country and one team got the top 6 guys.
Reminds me of the 1996 Olympics when Donovan Bailey and the quarter beat the USA in the 4 x 100m relay.
They called it an 'upset' back then also. Upset my ass. Canadians spanked them then and spanked them now.
same deal-sure in '96 Canada had Bailey and Surin then as their stars, but Glenroy Gilbert a 10.2-10.3 guy scorched Harden for the U.S on the 2nd leg and the USA had crappy handoffs then also-teamwork makes the dreamwork!
