I watched Ashley run Badwater 135 yesterday (7/5/23).. During my 47 years of running and coaching I have NEVER seen a more efficient running form. It is extremely easy for me to believe ALL her times/performances!
As for course cutting, I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt. I once mistakenly did the EXACT same thing during a half marathon! I was supposed to run around a block and missed the small markers.
I feel it is SO WRONG to label her as a cheater with little to no evidence. She's extremely talented, hard working and focused!
So does the win silence the critics? Or is there still doubt?
Yes, I have doubts. She is a convicted doper and I don’t believe the “contaminated supplement” defense. She has been involved in one too many shady things and comes across as completely superficial to me.
If she showed more humility in the face of past indiscretions and conducted herself differently, I would be thrilled. As it is now, I fully expect that we will be bitterly disappointed yet again and that she is in the vein of Lance, Regina, and Eddy.
