Right. If only one of them races, Saratoga’s chances of winning a national title are gone. Actually, based on speed ratings (don’t know how accurate they are anymore), even if both of them race, Saratoga’s chances of even making the podium are not very high.
Buchanan looks very solid and deep this year. They never won a national title before so with 3 seniors on the team (only 1 last year and she didn’t score), and some new freshmen that came in, I’m sure they will be hungry to finally win one.
Wow... things are rough in Manlius when Baldwinsville beats your boys and CNS doesn't bother to run their varsity against your girls.
Things are rough in Manlius when their 4th runner wasn’t even walking in this race (I wonder how many races they have left until sections. He only participated in 2 so far. He needs 4 more. Maybe he’s just out for the rest of the season?), and when there were only 4 nonsenior FM HS boys racing (there is a new junior that joined the team but he hasn’t raced since VVS). Next year they will have a possible #1 guy in the state, and a fairly decent 2/3 (this year’s 4/5) if healthy. Both of those guys are making some progression. We could see them make even more progress during this season, track, and summer. It will be interesting to see what their 4/5 will be like next year. Their 4th and 5th nonseniors’ times are: 19:48 (new junior who hasn’t raced since VVS. Maybe he will get healthy after the season and also do track and progress there and over the summer?) 20:20 (freshman). Maybe he can keep progressing now, run a 1600 time somewhere between 5 and 5:10 like McGinn and Ditre did their freshman years, and score pretty well for them next year? There is a huge crop of 7th and 8th graders but interestingly enough, based on their times, none of them seem to be outstandingly impactful for the team next year. So if the team wants to be any good next year, they are gonna have to rely on the 5 they return. To keep making progress, to stay healthy, and do all the little things right.

Scoring the NY girls using the most recent all-class SR rankings on TullyRunners:
Bethlehem: 176
Saratoga: 191
CNS: 199 (gave their #5 a 125 ranking; she's just off the list)
FM: 244
Very much a toss-up depending on the shape and depth of the field in a given race.
I agree with the top 5. Top 4 could be in any order. At Manhattan, Corning and St A will be facing each other off but MW won’t be in the same race as them. What I don’t get is how FM is on the “next” list, especially since they lost to Baldwinville, and Baldwinsville is nowhere in that list.
FM didn't race at McQuaid, and not racing at Manhattan... know their teams aren't all that this season, but kinda sucks for their two national-class runners not to see any significant competition before the state meet.

McGinn did lose to a senior from Baldwinsville. Where does this rank those guys for individuals in New York?
I really thought FM was gonna find a 4/5 this summer like Monroe Woodbury did and thought they could use the fact that “Corning is the only really good New York team” to their advantage to get back to NXN which they usually do. And they are very senior heavy too.
It turns out that New York is stronger and more competitive than people thought (still weak in comparison to other regions). Corning is still doing good but they are actually getting some competition from some teams that weren’t very good the last few years (St Anthony’s, MW and Fairport).

Dual meets don't count towards league championships in their league, so some dual meets are not all that competitive. Some teams use them as training. CNS girls did not need to run their top runners and will see FM at sectionals, and NXR regional (don't know about Feds). Izzie Sullivan beat Hannah Kaercher by 42 seconds at the Bville Invite, but lost to her by 36 seconds at this dual meet, so take the dual meet results with questions. Also, I believe the FM girls beat CNS at the Bville Invite on a tie-breaker before one their scorers was DQed.
I heard baldwinsville was tapering for Manhattan. Also dual meets are not priority for FM. Mcginn will easily beat him in important races
Baldwinsville tapered and still beat FM…wow.
Dual meets not a priority for FM?
wow…this is making me wonder how their 4-7 will end up doing when it matters. If Cooper D gets back they will have a really 4-7. The 2 non-seniors they have in that group seem to get better every meet.
I don’t see fm going anywhere sadly. Their 4-5 are just not good enough. But Mcginn and Otis will have a good shot at making it to NXN.
Maybe Perry too if he closes the gap on Otis, so that he can improve from his last place finish in 2019. If he makes it, I’m sure he won’t get last. Normally the person who gets last at NXN is someone on the team, particularly a team that is less than 7-deep. Or on a weak team from a weak region.
Corning/MW seem to have some good individuals. If they both make it will allow other individuals to make it.
Gonna be interesting what FM’s 4-5 will look like next year. Only 5 nonseniors on the team but their 4/5 nonseniors are a junior in the 19s and a freshman in the 20s. Both appear new to the sport. Maybe they will take a big jump in track/summer, who knows. Lots of FM 7th/8th graders but none of them look to really help the team go anywhere next year. McGinn could be an all-American next year so at least they will have that going for FM.
Based on interviews he has given in the past, Aris probably won't take a team to NXR if he doesn't think they have a shot at qualifying.
I doubt this. FM actually has a couple of individuals that could go. McGinn is pretty much in that position. Same with Otis. Maybe Perry will peak at NXR so he can redeem himself from his last place finish at NXN in 2019?
Is Aris gonna send his whole team, or is he gonna send just those individuals and mark them as unattached?
Their 4/7+ are ways back and this isn’t looking to change this season
