Listening to RGIII is light years better than Ato Bolden his the same tired talk track and filler words. I can listen to that guy say “young lady” one more time. RGIII seems genuinely enthusiastic and interested. Plus throws out random stuff like:
“He’s Canadian so you know he’s running through the 6 with his woes”
Watching the NCAA Track and Field championship stream and was very surprised of how good a commentator RGIII is even with his high school history of track
Discus
You mean the same guy that said Boiling was the Eminem of track, a trailblazer? Y’all are absolute clowns. No. Just no.
Doesn't matter, RGIII ran on that Baylor track team, he was doing things Vick/Jackson could never do. Vick and Jackson weren't track guys.
RGIII would smoke Vick/Jackson in a 100m. If talking a 40 Christian Coleman would smoke Usain Bolt.
One of my favorites growing up (I am 38) was Darrell Green. Fast even when he retired in 2001 in his 40s. He was great for the Skins growing up.
The '85-'89 Browns I somewhat remember didn't have any track studs but we did have NCAA long-jump champ (Texas) Eric Metcalf. As a little kid I dreamed of taking one to the house like Metcalf. He was Josh Cribbs 15 years early.
I didn't listen, but along the same lines, he received a lot of praise for his work as a TV football analyst among DC sports media. It kind of took me by surprise because he's not well liked in this town and often criticized for other factors. One thing that makes him good is that he's not afraid to speak his mind.
Good take, he has generated a ton of opinions about himself in DC and BAL. He was with the Ravens for a few years as a backup too and even with the Browns.
I'm glad to hear him be a solid announcer for T&F. That is what we need more of.
Sorry, jecht. Meant to give you a thumbs up, and either the site won't let me change it, or I just can't figure it out. Cheers.
Liked that he dared to point out that Matthew Boling is a bit of a rarity due to his being white.
Wonder if this honesty will be used to attack him
While props for going there he was wrong, yes it does matter what color/race you are that is why there was only.....one....white sprinter out there.
He was not saying that white sprinters are on average as fast as black sprinters. He was saying that just because someone is a certain color doesn’t automatically preclude them from being a good sprinter, or being a good anything. As a black man, he very much knows what it is like for people to assume he is not good at certain things whether he is or not, and he is turning it around.

Bottom line is dude is terrible at commentating. He just repeats whatever someone else says then adds some slang and a ridiculous comment like run like the cops are chasing you or that race will put hair on your chest or she’s laid back like her edges.
He is the best track commentator I've ever heard. Far better than Ato Bolton with his weird inflections. He literally says what I'm thinking, especially when clueless announcers say things like " Cherokee jogged in the 400" and he immediately corrected her saying that her legs were pretty heavy at the end of the race.
I get what he was saying....honest! But how many white sprinters are we seeing in these Champs? Yes race does matter if you plain on being a sprinter, and that is totally obvious, we all see itl
Literally every person that I’ve listened to commentating on a major network in the almost 40yrs I’ve been watching track and field on tv. Dan O’Briens, Larra (she’s on tonight), Carol Lewis, Trey Hardee, Sanya RR, even Ato. I honestly can’t think of anyone I’ve enjoyed less. I’m not exaggerating.
My take has always been that rg3 should've just stuck with track. Just the way he looked on the field he was never meant to be a starting qb. And then running qbs were a failed experiment.

Well most I know disagree with you. I think he's great.

Did you watch his rookie year?
3000+ passing yards
800+ rushing yards
20 Passing TD’s and only 5 INT
7 Rushing TD
Led a mediocre team to win NFC EAST.
Again, as a ROOKIE… didn’t pan out obviously but he was pretty dang good.

Well, you must like Nickelback and Domino's because your taste is trash.
