Watching the NCAA Track and Field championship stream and was very surprised of how good a commentator RGIII is even with his high school history of track

Is “III” his actual original given last name, or did he change it like Chad Ochocinco?
Excellent commentator. Referenced different types of middle distance running and Zahafi's race for 1:43 in Florida.
Knows when to throw in an anecdote and when to analyze what's going on.
I was wondering who it was... he is terrific!
I didn't listen, but along the same lines, he received a lot of praise for his work as a TV football analyst among DC sports media. It kind of took me by surprise because he's not well liked in this town and often criticized for other factors. One thing that makes him good is that he's not afraid to speak his mind.

Good take, he has generated a ton of opinions about himself in DC and BAL. He was with the Ravens for a few years as a backup too and even with the Browns.
I'm glad to hear him be a solid announcer for T&F. That is what we need more of.
RGIII did a very good job.
He was doing the same thing in football, he's great and knows is stuff.
He is the fastest QB to ever throw a pass in the NFL. He kept getting hurt couldn't stay in the game.
He did a great job. USA needs better track commentators. The same old recycled analysis and stories we've had for years don't provide anything positive.

Nope. Not the fastest but close.

I never imagined I’d hear RGIII quoting Dwight Goodman while commentating a 10,000 meter track race.
Not talking the 40, RGIII was a legit track guy, had a 21.4 200m.

That is fine but the 40 matters more for a QB than the 200.
In track, Griffin broke Texas state records for the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. He ran the 110-meter hurdles in 13.55 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles in 35.33 seconds. The 300 hurdles time was 1/100th of a second short of tying the national high school record at the time.
No doubt RGIII would have no problems running a 100m, can't say that about Vick and Jackson.
Doesn't matter, RGIII ran on that Baylor track team, he was doing things Vick/Jackson could never do. Vick and Jackson weren't track guys.
RGIII would smoke Vick/Jackson in a 100m. If talking a 40 Christian Coleman would smoke Usain Bolt.

Well to the naked eye Vick was faster on a football field. Anyway they were all fast and RG was a great track athlete. No doubt.
