When did she go faster than 11.3 basic in hs? And if she did, does that show that that was not her peak? The 2-year is the 2-year. She wasn’t faster in 2017 than 11.41 basic.
From the Su thread:
And now we have Richardson to add to the half-second list: 2017: 11.41 2019: 10.84 An improvement of 0.57, or 0.55 if you don’t account for 2019 celebration, over 2 years from also-ran to #3 in the world, and the 9th-best performer all-time. She has gone on to lower it by a further 0.16, and is now tied with FloJo as the fastest basic performer all-time.
It honestly was. The whole thing was embarrassing. There was no communication with the fans as to what was going on (delays, moved races, etc), so I can only imagine it was a similar situation for the athletes. Start times were ambiguous. Women’s HJ was set up and ready to go and Inka was the only competitor over there. It was announced that all (3) women’s HJ participants to go to the apron. Still only Inka remained and then all of a sudden they put the standards away and the cover on. I guess they got her to jump later in the meet, as there is a result, but we’ll after I left.
They had the first heat of the men’s 100 and apparently the timer wasn’t ready for the direction switch so those times were lost. The remaining 100 heats were just made to stand/jog around without any notification of the delay. Then all of a sudden they were called off and the women’s 400 were called onto the track. Being an active part of track for over 20 years… this was the most ill-run track meet I’ve ever been to. I brought my partner with me who had never been to a pro meet before and is not at all a “track person.” I was embarrassed for my sport and regretted bringing him.
ATL… do better.
Between Indoor and outdoor hownmamy meets has ATL put on? You would think by now basic things would improve. The idea of the series is great but it does more harm to track and field in the USA than good
Your argument is that athletes peak in high school and any improvement past that is suspicious? What makes you randomly determine that her high school time represented her ceiling - and that all the advantages of college and then professional coaching, nutrition, weight training, technical drills, training with fast teammates, access to physio, etc. clearly never have any effect?
This is honestly stupid. Do you apply this logic to everyone? That what you run at 16 is clearly what you are capable of and any further improvement is drugs? Guess we should age limit all championship races to 16 and under since runners are at their peak then and never develop further.
I think Ingebridtsen’s peak was clearly when he was 12 and any times past that he was obviously doping, because reasons!
She looked good in the race. Just needs more competitions and some sharpening work. She has potential and hopefully can return to top form and find some consistency.
It's clear you've never been an elite sprinter so I get the bitterness.....you can't relate to a talent of that pedigree so you make stuff up to justify your (clearly racial) bias. As others have pointed out, the conditions were atrocious, pouring rain, cold, headwind...the worst for sprinting. It was also her opener and she was in the mix with her competition. It's not the time that matters but the circumstances of the race. If Letsrun was a real supporter of the Sport, they'd publish more context and less trolling.
If you thought that was bad, you should have attended the Trayvon Bromell Classic a few years ago! 12 hours after the scheduled start time (over 90 degrees that day and very little shade, unexplained delays between events of hours), they got to the 800m, and the meet was still far from the end.

I get that, but calling me a racist makes you a POS and makes you look stupid.
Yeah circumstances matter, no kidding. You new here? Why don’t you look at my multi-decade history of circumstances-related posts? Including the ultimate ones, the basic thread series.
Hobbs is no joke, and to be hanging with her is good—but only good. I did not say she was 11.3 now, I said she had 11.3 talent, and I maintain that. Of course she should be a bit faster than that right now, but nowhere near 10.7, or even 10.8, or even 10.9. Anything much better than the 11.3 area code isn’t organic imo.
I should re-iterate that I couldn’t care less what SCR runs, I have zero interest in her. As far as American women go, I’m way more interested in Ofili, Battle, Steiner, and even Bowie, who I always liked. May they all blow away SCR into oblivion. She’s lame.
And yes, she went faster than 11.3 in high school. She went 11.12 in her senior year. Jesus.
Yeah? When and where? Wind? What was it, basic?
The best HS time the WA page shows is 11.28 in 2017 in Austin, which had a +2.0 wind and was therefore 11.41 basic.
And again, it wouldn’t matter to her demonstrated 2-year progression unless it occurred in the first year thereof, or 2017. As a matter of fact, she back-slid in 2018.

Do you always misunderstand everything, or do you just misrepresent it?
Obv that wasn’t my argument. Maybe read the posts and you will understand what was actually said.
