only commenting bc i have to say that bush's run was super impressive. if she could replicate that performance in an ncaa champs 5k i think she'd do really well.
maybe, but yesterday was no centro style race. she beat one of the 5k ncaa favorites by a lot on the last lap and looked really strong doing it. maybe it was just her day, but she seems to have improved a lot.

Last lap times have become the new measuring stick on LR for talent and fitness but Bush kicked off of 16:00 pace. I don’t know why people think that a conference championship race would be important to Touhy.

the ncaa 5000m doesnt only consist of the "last lap" :)) tuohy can run an unchallenged, unproperly paced 5k in 15:14 and can run so much faster than that.. the 5000m nationals this year will be GUNS BLAZING! It will be a crazy fast race!
i get how you are excited, you seem like those ppl in letsrun whos always excited to see tuohy lose, get on someones bandwagon but its funny how you think the 5k that bush won was "dominating"
a dominating win that could make her a title contender would be 15:25
bush tried to train like a distance runner, ran solo 7 miles .. days later runs 4:30 1500m .. im guessing it was probably fatigue and effects of the endurance training over speed
As I recall it she was drafting a good amount of that race. That helps. But she does have the red shirt senior/altitude training combo that has been the Colorado pattern lately.
My guess is KT is training to close in 1:03 like Elly did.

That is what the training is geared towards. Tuohy said she ran the 1500 with the emphasis on working on her 5000. She closed in 63 twice this past weekend in the 1500. Now whether she could do that in the 5000 remains to be seen.
Tuohy roe bush Mercy Nichols... Top 5 in that order... Won't be super fast... 1525 to 1540... Tuohy has the edge fast Bush has the edge slow...
You’re dreaming if you think Nichols is finishing 5th in that group. 🙄
nichols will surely podium if the race is slow, but race should not be slow because 15:20 is already the "slow times" for katelyn, mercy and roe ,...and 15:20 isnt slow for the rest of the field

Whether the pace is 15:00, 15:30 or 16:00, she’s going to finish with a 63?
Well 15:00, probably not. I think the training likely parallels how Elly Henes approached it. She ran 1:03 in the final 400m so that number sticks in my head.
