Bush ran away from the field and finished the race looking relaxed. The announcers said that it appeared like she could do do another one while everyone else was best over gasping. The thing really jumped out to us at our watch party was that Tuohy avoided Bush after the race. The rift was obvious. Competition has made both runners better.
Watch the race again. Watch the 5 minutes following the race again. It was the first thing my daughter pointed out. She said "Those two do not like one another". It isn't a bad thing. They are both running very fast.
you may be trolling but if not you are reading something that is not there. right after the race they greeted each other. Tuohy who was exhausted just bent over and eventually found energy to trudge to the infield. Bush did her interview and then they high fived and smiled at each other.
NC State Sophomore Katelyn Tuohy takes the race from the start to finish, splits 48 67 66 63 to win the ACC 1500m title!! A 6-second PR! Katelyn doubled back...
Sam Bush looked great and did have an amazing kick. She's definitely a contender
I think kaitlin was disappointed, I think she felt she could do better... But it's not easy to run a 1500 like she did from start to finish to lead the race and to beat some really good runners by that much so I don't think she realized how much that would take out of her
Also I think she was pretty emotional after winning the 1500 so that probably also added to taking some of her energy...
Nothing really to see here. The 5k result was due to their both doubling back from 1500 / 800 and also nice to see Bush get some hardware.
Contrary to what most think, Touhy was all out in that 1500, hence 4:06 w/ 6 sec pr. Why all out? Skyring was right on her shoulder at 400, 300 and still in range at 200. kt knows Barnett is lurking somewhere, plus even Parks and her teammate Moreno have great footspeed, if they are in range. With all of her 1500 close scar tissue lol, there is no way kt is not driving all the way to the finish line. So even if it looked easy she went to the well.
Bush's 800 was a different story. A typical Bush 800 would be 64/61 with a strong close. In this race trying to win and pr she ran a disappointing 61/65. The silver lining was she was able to recover nicely off that frustrating 2:06 for the 5k win, while Tuohy was still feeling her 1st race.
Bush is quite the runner 2:04 / 4:10 / 8:55 / 15:40 excellent closing speed. A bit inconsistent, but still with plenty of upside. Will be a contender at Ncaa 1500.

Watched Semi's YouTube of the 1500m (thx) and.. Just guessing of course.. It looks to me that KT was more jacked on caffeine than usual. More rocking at the start line, and then the energy at the interview and even the post race perfunctory congrats to the other runners.. All seemed a little jakked up to me. Versus watching her other races like NCAAs indoors. Also would explain the PR, hers and her 1500 NC girls.. I think they timed their caffeine better vs Penn state. Maybe it's not something meticulously managed at the college team, but I'm quite sure pros know it matters a lot, timing and amount.
