Is there anyone over 70 on here? Or even pushing 80? I would be shocked if anyone is over 80.
Then again, my mom is about to turn 87 and she posts on Facebook almost every day. Actually most of her posts are pretty good ... family stuff, intelligent political and social stuff. It's not surprising she's still as sharp as a tack since everyone in her family lives into their 90s.
but I digress...
71 here, at age 67 I was running pretty well, 22:40 5k, and 2:59 800m. Day of 800m race noticed a lump on my shoulder, just out of the blue. Felt fine at the time, blood work good. Turned out I had swollen lymph nodes throughout my chest.Diagnosis was Follicular Lymphoma 3a. Very aggressive, but treatable with chemo, biologic, and radiation. I was lucky, fine now.
Re #4: Biden's way past his prime, but he was elected because Trump was worse in every way.
Trump was a terrible president. I don't even care about what he tweeted or yelled. He was bad at the job itself. Ask any historian that ranked him or, more importantly, any economist that fact checked him when he lied about his achievements in office.
FFS, what kind of a jerk are you? Some millennial who thinks his sh*t don't stink? How are old are you? Are you my age? If you're even close to my age, can you put your money where your mouth is?
It's like this punk: So many disgruntled millennials complain these days about the aging boomers being so unhealthy not excercising & taking care themselves. They whine & complain that these sickly boomers are straining the medical system costing tremendous amounts of money to treat & take care of them, and so on. So, when you have boomers like me in better shape than most men half my age, then yes we should be put on a pedestal and used as an example.
What cracks me about this is if I posted this comment on the Grandmaster's thread here, there would be no negative response like you've given. Only positive remarks because my fellow fitness enthusiast boomers know what the heck I'm talking about (I only posted this comment here because of the nature of this thread).
I occasionally get into some debates with some of these young hotshot bodybuilders easily half my age at the gym I work out at who harass me because of my age (I was a competitive bodybuilder in the 1980's winning some regional titles and I still have decent physique for my age without using TRT).
I look them straight in the eye & tell them let's see what you will look like when you get my age. Will you even be still working out? Will you be fat, unhealthy, sickly - in & out of the med system? Not surprisingly, they have no answer & walk away. Lol. And I'm not afraid of calling those out who are using gear (i.e., roids, T, SARMS, etc.). Now those guys definitely walk away in disgrace - I have absolutely no respect for them. Lol.
Haha, you really do seem to be somebody who just doesn't feel right about the world unless he's getting non-stop positive feedback. One of the guys I run with sometimes is like you (I'm in my 50s, and he's in his 60s) and he always tells everybody what his latest workout was, and then finishes his tale with "...not bad for a guy my age!" Like he's practically forcing us to say, yes, that's great for a guy your age...you're incredible!
I mean, can't you just work out because you like it and it's good for you? Come to think of it, though, that is another thing that boomers are known for - me, me, me, notice me please please please...hey guys, I won regional body-building titles several decades ago - notice me! ADMIRE ME!!
Btw, that conversation you had with those young whippersnapper bodybuilders ("I look them straight in the eye & tell them let's see what you will look like when you get my age. Will you even be still working out? Will you be fat, unhealthy, sickly - in & out of the med system? Not surprisingly, they have no answer & walk away")...that conversation never took place! Or, if you did say that to them and they truly didn't answer you, and just walked away, it's because they didn't hear you in the first place, because they weren't even paying attention to you.
I'm 61 and I know guys like that. Just STFU about how great you are 'for your age'! No one but you gives a sheeit.

Honestly, some of the back and forth is genuinely funny. Seems like Izzy Mandelbaum from Seinfeld fame is on this thread. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88M9-rBXubA Me, I’m 63: 1) I too am thankful I can still train. 2) NO, I am NOT more handsome than ever. NO, 25-year old’s do NOT ask me on dates. 3) We all get stuck at certain musical ages, I’m a Green Day fan. 4) ALL Politicians the world over like one thing and one thing only, money. If you don’t give them some you are useless scum. 5) One look at Facebook and it’s painfully obvious that my peers are losing IQ points faster than their hair. My god, I don’t need to see pictures of your freaking food! 6) I ‘jog’ 60 minutes a day and can still crack sub 8 pace in a 5K. It is neither good nor bad, it just is. I don’t need anyone to pat me on the back to motivate me to run, I do it to enhance my life. 7) I DO take blood pressure meds and cholesterol meds and see my doctor regularly. It is delusional to believe you don’t need to see a doctor or, for most of us, take meds at 60+.

100% agree on seeing a doctor regularly and getting a colonoscopy and general cancer screening.
Pills? Only if forced to. Diet can replace the need for pharmaceuticals.

I'm two months from 60...
1. Wow, yes, but you sure get less return for your efforts. I'm lucky, my body has been pretty resilient, but boy, things really do go downhill quickly. I feel like 55-59 I aged two years for every year compared to 45-54, and this year feels like I've aged three, especially my skin.
2. I am not more handsome - wear sunscreen, kids.
3. I am still influenced by cool people more than I wish.
4. A bit of non sequitur, no?
5. I've become far more gracious with other's failings rooted in weakness and error, but my rage towards those that abuse power seems to grow every year.
Happy belated birthday young man. 66 here. I too can now listen to disco if I hear it, but will never be my favorite. I'm partial to classic rock forever.
I'm also glad I can still "train" but boy it gets harder with the aches and pains that we used to ignore or never have to deal with.
Agree about the veggie wearing the Depends in the White House. He's proven to be an ultimate failure. I'm guessing 75% of the fools that voted for him simply were voting against Trump, and now with the mess that our country is in, they'd gladly accept the mean tweets and chaos associated with Trump, because at least his policies worked.
Seriously, you've been alive for 61 years and and you're still stuck in the stage where you insist on people admiring you and reverenting you just because you exercise?

Considering your age, you've just proved you're a pathetic, narcissistic insecure jerk. Just another boomer with fake tan I guess.

Millennials generally do nothing but want handouts. Love to label people while they sit on their hands. Can’t even manage to have families anymore.
Re "his policies worked": This is one of the most irritating, naive talking points that I hear about Trump. The guy did nothing to improve the country; he just bragged about things that either didn't happen, had nothing to do with him, or that occurred before he took office. Remember when he said "China is now paying us billions of dollars a month from the tariffs we're charging them"? That was a typical lie that he knew you'd all believe. Tariffs don't get charged to other countries. I'll invite you to cite ANY policy that you think he implemented, and I'll link you the corresponding economic stats that show how badly he lied every day of his failed presidency.
