Bowerman is now training at altitude and they aren't going to come down just for a meet that serves no real purpose for them. They will return to sea level right before the 10k championships which are happening the night before Pre.
I've always said, "Imagine if you put a world-class African in Stanford-type conditions." Well Jakob as a world-class african in terms of talent and these also acount as Stanford-type conditions.
So a white guy from Europe now counts as an "African" and "Stanford type conditions" are now in Southern California?
I'm always surprised by the things that are written on this message board.
What if Nico wins? I’ll take Jakob by a lot. He has the engine of a well running Ford Excursion.
I'm not sure what Jakob's intent in running this 5k race is. He's not peaking until later this year, plus he lost some training time because of Covid last month, so I don't think he is trying for a 5k PB.
Maybe he just wants to get an outdoor race under his belt as a rust buster? If so, I think two or three of the other runners can hang with him until the last lap or two.
UK organisers like to stack the fields to ensure home wins. Nothing unique about that but that is why those events are traditionally of a lower calibre. UK taxation is an issue for visiting athletes, they pay taxation not only on prize money but also for any sponsorship earnings accrued during their time in UK. That is why Bolt and co very rarely went to UK, they lost more money than they won in doing so. The UK government removed the taxation for 2012 Olympic Games, there may still be a dispensation for athletes.

Like I said, UK tax for athletes and performers is 20% on anything above £12,750. Most track and field athletes won't reach that, but some stars will. In European terms, a 20% tax rate isn't high. There is no tax to pay on sponsorship activities that involve still photography. I have no idea how you would lose more than you would win paying just 20% in tax...
For the record, Bolt raced in the UK nearly every year of his career and overall, raced there a lot more than he did in the US. He was the star attraction of the Anniversary Games until he retired
Jakob is going to absolutely destroy this field. Easy win for Europe.
I heard that he is going for the european 800m record soon too, anyone heard of this? (It came from 'the runner' on youtube, which usually is a pit of bs, so I am sceptical).

That's not true. Jakob doesn't have the speed to get the European 800 record.

You might be right, but at least he is racing (below from instagram europeanathletics):
europeanathletics Jakob Ingebrigtsen will run his first 800m since 2020 at the Trond Mohn Games in Bergen on 8 June. 👀 How fast do you think he will run?

It is wellknown that Jakob prefer racing to training so if he is training in Flagstaff already it isn´t a big journey to go to a race in L.A.
Jakob also ran (and won) low key 1500meters in the US in the early outdoor season of both 2017 and 2018 when he had been training in Flagstaff.

It depends on how serious he takes that 800 race. I think he can break 1:45, but probably not break 1:44.
Title should say: Jacob to run a public tempo run on the 6th of March. It's gonna be non competitive and he will do one or two more sets of tempo runs right after.

It doesn't make sense flying all the way there for a "rust buster", but he may already be in Flag, so this is to break up things a bit? Its a bit disappointing not seeing more americans taking the opportunity to race world class runners on home turf.
This meet is to get qualified for WC 5000m. He already is in Flagstaff, so he will fly in the day of the meet and back again that night.
