If these folks think of themselves as "Professional" athletes then they should build themselves their own "Professional" track and not steal time from the high school kids. Whiny and pathetic. Not very professional, no wonder why this sport is 2nd tier. Sedona is apparently soooo amazing for all of these pros from all over the country and world to travel to for their professional sport, BUT not so amazing that they can have/create their own track for all of these people who are literally there to run. A good number of those runners would never have shown up if it weren't for running. PATHETIC.
In this era of school shootings, covid restrictions, liability lawsuits, and gender confusion, I can't believe that ADULTS are stupid enough to trespass on public school property, especially during school hours or during school sports/activities.
They should all have been arrested long before the poop incident.
Pool your money, buy some land and build your own damn track.
These coaches are acting like the track being closed is a huge travesty. As the article states with the track closed to the pros they can still use the dirt track in camp verde or drive 2 hours to phoenix.
The article wanted me to think that these are “bad” options but for a group of people whose only responsibility is running both are reasonable solutions. After the round trip drive (4 hrs), workout (2hrs) and gym session (1hr) they’ll still be 1 hour short of a full time job and 7-10 hours for playing video games/making Instagram posts.

A dirt track?! The horror! Certainly no world class athletes could ever do effective training on such a rustic surface. Name one gold medalist or WR holder from any country that routinely does workouts on a dirt track?
I cannot comprehend why our brave North American champions are expected to train in such primitive conditions? Who does that and achieves success?

Confession: I didn’t use port o pottys or public restrooms at tracks in middle of pandemic BEFORE vaccines were out (circa March 2020 to March 2021). yes back then (pre vaccines)It may have been somewhat safer to go to the bathroom outside of the bathroom (the aerosol based nature of the sars cov2 alpha variant meant that fumes of it could linger in port o potty if an infected person just used as it’s an enclosed container you’re going into without any ventilation).
Why has one if the groups not put a Porta John in? This seems like a pretty simple problem to fix.
What do I know
Its disgusting what people do to/in Porta Johns.
The best move is to poop in the little container on the left where the pee is supposed to go. Then you don’t have to squat or even attempt to deal with the toilet seat and its lack of cleanliness. If someone else comes in and pees on top of your pile, it just becomes diarrhea anyway

It strikes me as typical coach's behavior. Unwilling to change what they've done in the past. Doesn't matter that there are plenty of alternatives, they must use the one track because that is what they have always done.
Sedona HS (55 min 4.5k ft)
Pretty reasonable alternatives at similar drive times and elevations include
