Don't know about the track, but definitely when it comes to game speed.
There have been a bunch of world class 100m &/or 200m sprinters in N.F.L.

Hi, can you answer the question?
There's like 10 threads on this. Why don't you search one?
Hershel Walker finished 6th at the SEC indoor meet with Steroid Floyd the winner. All the cameras were taking loads of pictures of Walker. It was crazy. Floyd was standing all by himself at the finish line without one picture taken of him.
I am in my mid 50's and a big NFL fan.
I can't remember watching any player, including Skeets, Moss, Woodson, Bates, etc. that appeared so much faster than his opponents than Hill does.
He also changes direction at a high rate of speed that I have not seen since OJ, and I mean on the field. Both have had discretions off the field.
Hey Steelers fan, do you know who holds the old style javelin record in Louisiana?

Yes, and it was a National HS record at the time.
Intercept that nay-sayers!

He did answer it. There's too many to name. No way does he beat a world class 100/200m sprinter. He's fast yes but not top 5.
1) Johnny "Lam" Jones;
2) Ron Brown;
3) James Jett;
4) Bob Hayes
5) Depends how long a guy has to be in the league: John Carlos/Tommie Smith/James Hines/ ...
That I did not know but should have.
Time to take this thread to the next level. Best shot putter to take the football field has to be Michael Carter. Can you imagine him smacking the front line with the same style that he used in the shot put.
Marquise Goodwin is likely as fast.
When it comes to in pads with football in hand on a football field I have neve seen anyone faster than Tyreek Hill.
But if talking track speed or track guys who have played NFL football, Tyreek ran a 10.19 in high school, no doubt if he would have been serious about sprinting while at Oklahoma State/Western Alabama he his running 10.05ish at least. But he didn't.
His 20.14 for 200m also a high school time, that is incredible for high school. If not for football Tyreek is in the Olympic 200m mix.
Those who ran faster on a track.
Willie McGee Alcorn/Chargers....9.1 world record for 100 yards
Bob Hayes Florida A&M/Cowboys...9.1/10.06 WR's
Trindon Holliday LSU/Broncos ....10.00
Jacoby Ford Clemson/Raiders....10.01
Ron Brown ASU/Rams....10.06
Alvis Whitted NCST/Raiders....10.07
Darrel Green Texas A&I/Redskins....10.08
Sam Graddy Tennessee/Broncos.....10.09 Olympic silver
Willie Gault Tennessee/Bears....10.10
Curtis Dickey Texas A&M/Colts....10.11
Michael Bates Arizona/Seahawks....10.11
James Jett WV/Raiders....10.16
James Trapp Clemson/Riders....10.14
Sammie Parker Oregon/Chiefs....10.17
Jamaal Charles Texas/Chiefs....10.18
Michael Bennett Wisconsin/Vikings....10.18
Ok all those times were ran at the NCAA level, being Hills 10.19 was a HS time we have to give it more props, do doubt anyone above not sub 10.10 could hang with Tyreek.
Randy Moss only ran one season of college track, he ran some indoor races at Marshall, would guess if serious about track....10.20ish
Deion was a 10.26 but not serious about the sport at all, same with Bo Jackson a 10.33 at Auburn.
Herschel Walker was a 10.23 guy, which is amazing for a 225 pounder,
When it comes to the old 100 yard dash guys....
Cliff Branch Colorado/Raiders....9.2
Mel Gray Missouri/Cards....9.2
A whole gang at 9.3/9.4 too many to list.
Goodwin was first and foremost a long jumper, did have a 10.08 but he's not as fast as Hill.
Hill is bitchin’ fast over the 60, but the 100 who knows, it is a different race.
He, like Isles in rugby, makes everyone else look slow because others are unable to accelerate properly—like that NFL guy who ran the 100 earlier this year. Even jacked-up, his lack of acceleration would make him look lead-footed against Hill.
Great to see a small fast guy against bulky lions, fat hippos, and lanky cranes. In fact, I’m loving all the short and compact rb’s who are currently tearing up the nfl. Can’t see them, can’t cut with them, hard to catch them once they get 2 steps.👍
Jeff Demps, Frank Budd, Ray Norton, John Carlos, Tommie Smith, Jimmy Hines had nothing NFL careers, I wouldn't list them.
We have all heard about how Al Davis had a ting about speed, and he did he got that idea watching the LA Dodgers play baseball, they always had faster players and it made a difference.
All these guys were one time Raiders
