We went through the mile in 4:57/4:58, the first 300 or so was fast, but we settled right in, that split seemed accurate to me.

Yep, 4:57-4:58 is exactly what I saw too. I was right behind the lead pack, in about 8th-10th place or so at that point, maybe 2-3 secs. behind. And what was with Burdick taking the lead at like 600 meters into it and falling back to around 40th? Boy did that kid get a rude awakening to collegiate running this season. I get the feeling he expected to come in and walk all over everyone just because he was on such a good high school team.
Kolb was 5:00 at the mile and he was at tail of the lead pack of about 20 runners. The front was not at 4:45, more like 4:55.

I call vagina on Ryan Kolb! Vagina!
I think it was more along the lines of he is tired. Watching him practice the last couple of weeks, he is just out of it. He needs some time off of his legs, a little bit of recovery. He goes so hard in practice, its a shame nobody got to see just how good he really is. He has a whole other gear that he never really brought out in a race this year. Its going to take him a little time to adjust to stuff here, but I know he has more. I have seen what he is capable of, just not yet in a race.
