The point is simply that this is not a problem really in the domain of mathematics since order of operations isn't defined by Peano axioms. This is just one of notation semantics, and guess what - multiple notation styles exist.
The practical answer here is that you'd be laughed at if you submitted something like this to a journal (and some people do, and often much worse) and asked to R&R to make intent clear.
Yeah, you could break this down into "what is the meaning of the letter A. But as much as I would love to split the most razor thin of all semantic hairs in regards to... well, literal logical semantics...
